Goudi: Assyrian Folk Music by Mesopotamian Fusion.Ilona Danho
Музыка
Goudi, is the Assyrian folk song,
women sang while churning butter. They used a goatskin butter churn (gudha), which had wooden handles on each end, mounted and hanged from a wooden tripod.
Creamy buttermilk was poured inside and shaken back and forth, by two women, until the buttermilk lipids gathered into natural butter.
To make this laborious task go quicker, Assyrian village women would sing songs in a tempo of which mimicked that of the churn being rocked back and fort
Goudi ©
Lyrics translation in English:
I will churn my churn by myself, oh my churn!
I will churn my churn by myself, oh my self!
I will wear out my arms, oh my churn!
I will wear out my arms, oh my self!
I will churn my churn, oh my churn!
I will churn my churn, oh my self!
I will prepare it for that Ammo (Emmanuel), oh my churn!
I will prepare it for that Ammo (Emmanuel), oh my self!
I will extract the butter into my dish, oh my churn!
I will extract the butter into my dish, oh my self!

Such beautiful, mournful music! I absolutely LOVE this music, and I was born in the USA, mother was Scotch/Cherokee, from Appalachia, father Irish/German from Cincinnati. What can I say? This music tugs at my heart, and I could listen to it all day long! The same is true of the Scottish bagpipes and traditional Greek mountain country music. I have varied tastes in music, but this Assyrian music is my favorite. Plus, the Assyrian food is SO GOOD! Long live Assyrians and Assyria, in Peace and Love!❤

@@ContemporaryMoses01 hi, I saw your comment about southern turkey on the mesopotamian fusion music video. My family is from Southeastern turkey. We are assyrian, I was born in the USA though. if you go to assyrian roots .com you may be able to find a village called hoze in the search bar, but that is all I managed to find so far. if you want to talk more, just comment back, we can get emails or something to communicate easier.

Aphrem Danha Hey man, thanks for your comment. I have been doing a very extensive research I found out a lot of things about my ancestors and roots, found a book about Hoze published by a man who’s dad had witnessed everything in 1914 (when everyone left the region) and I read the whole thing and I looked up few historical facts about the area everything matched. I also checked the website you mentioned. Very useful

That is not your land . But off course you twisted all our history to your benefits, so now you call it our land . But can I ask you a question , if it’s your land then how come you can’t speak the language of that land , which is not Arabic , and you don’t even know the history of that land . Because you took over that land by force and sword

Mesopotamia is the homeland of the Assyrians. The famous royal cities of the Assyrians, Ashur, Nimrud (Kalhu), Arbela, Dur-Sharrukin and Nineveh were built in it. The Assyrians ruled for approximately 1,300 years - from about 2000 B.C. to 612/10 BC - in northern Mesopotamia an ancient landscape between the Euphrates and Tigris rivers. A clear reference to the existence of the Assyrians, on the other hand, can already be found in the Old Testament (1st Book of Moses 2:14). There it says: * “… the name of the third river is the Tigris, which flows east of Assyria. The fourth river is the Euphrates..."
