One masterpice follows another. When I drive from work on highway late in the night, I feel like floating in space and time, moon ahead, stars shining and surrounding landscape ges blurred :) Bravo Gotye!

This song makes me think of a drive with the family along the plains of the Midwest. You know, that type of tranquility when you're heading back home from a trip, with nothing but wheat to look at out the window.

How nostalgic can a song be... This one shows that it can be VERY nostalgic indeed...

Those bass harmonics, so awesome!

reminds me of when my father drove me around at night as a child. I pray he still can for many years to come.

Do not worry about the numbers. Just be thankful we are part of the ones that get it! May all those in darkness be enlightened.

Coz "stupid mainstream" gets more advertising & coverage - it's not that it's better, it's just that it's better known... that's all... But that's OK, just as long as we found THIS... you often find fans of JJJ saying something like "most people don't know that this exists which makes it my special music"...

I know this is a decade old comment, but Gotye himself said in an old interview that he loves that gay people interpreted this song as romantic, even if he didn't intend it that way when he wrote it.

Enigma,Delerium and Masters of Chant are also groups that need to be more visible.Their music is great.Most of the stuff that are hits sound so much like everyone elses stagnant nonsense.

He went back to his band, the basics, for a little while. They released an EP and an album ("The Age of Entitlement"). It's all good stuff, but more normal rock as opposed to the weirdness of Gotye. BUT, the band has stated that they're all doing their own things for 2017. So... there is hope.

He probably chose to stay in the "shadows" by himself instead of selling his ass to the mainstream

Love this song, though I feel like its message and impact are lost upon a lot of Western cultures, who have a very scarce concept of close friendship. When I went to look up the lyrics, everyone seemed to believe this song was about a gay couple, or a straight couple, or a man and his dog. Kinda sad, they're really missing out.

people come from diferent backgrounds and it affects the way they interpret songs. it doesnt mean that their interpretation is wrong or bad just that it is different from what you understood it to be. its kinda sad that we would always see and understand the world through our very own glasses and will never be able to understand another person completely 😔
