Gotthard railway and tunnel cab ride, Switzerland best ride !

Ойын-сауық

Amazing, for connoisseurs !! The Gotthard Tunnel cab ride. You will see the ride as never before. The Nord Ramp going up, seeing 3 times the same panorama and the revolving tunnels. One of the nicest train rides in Switzerland and a technical marvel from the 19th century.

The scenery is spectacular, and also amazing is the amount of labor that created this route. Yet we saw no other rail traffic on this video. Seeing those power lines that swoop across the valley impressed me.

this may have to do with the fact that the base tunnel was opened at the beginning of June and the video was uploaded at the end of June, if the recording took place on a Sunday in between it would be normal to see no freight trains and also the passenger trains only travel the mountain route when they have to serve the small railway stations, all others have since travelled through the base tunnel

Fascinating video. I did the return trip from Zurich to Locarno via Bellinzona in 1987. Terrific scenery, and the 3 circular tunnels were both a big surprise and quite spectacular. The change in height near the church was amazing. I have been working my way through my 35mm photo collection from that period and digitising it. I found some photos from where I was working in Locarno, and also from a trip around Lake Maggiore, but so far haven't found any from the rail trip. During the 80s I also visited Montreux several times and took the train from Geneva. One time I was their for a week, and commuted from Vevey. Excellent train service.

I've been through from the other side. We went from Locarno to Goschenen then took the narrow gauge train to Andermatt and Brig. Fabulous journey. You could see the narrow gauge train departing on the right as the train the video was taken from left Goschenen. It was winter when I travelled on that route so everything was covered in snow but the trains still ran immaculately to time. Swiss railways are brilliant.

Beautyful sights on a beautyful piece of railway. I only would like to see the same film without changing the speed in tunnels and variation of camera positions. A real ' watching forward' in real speed. But that 's my opinion. Still love it though.

I hesitated, but first it is almost all black and secondly, this can take some time. for instance only crossing the top tunnel, the Gothard one, takes about 20 to 25 minutes... maybe I can also upload the other version... i will think about that. Anyhow, many thanks and best regards
