He gets payed to sell course aimed at beginners and make videos aimed to inform and entertain beginners. If GMs wanna make big bucks they should consider doing something more lucrative than playing chess(chess is cool, but you can’t be salty cause you’re the worlds best scrabble player, have decided to quit your job, pursue no other career paths, then get salty someone who’s a part time chess player full time KZreadr and chess teacher (with experience as a teacher) makes more bank than you

    I don't think he was claiming he stayed out of it, but that he didn't take a side on whether Niemann cheated, which is true. He certainly had plenty to say on pretty much every detail, but he was always clear that he didn't know if Niemann cheated or not and he did debunk some of the proof-Niemann-cheated claims. I mean, a reasonable person could argue about whether he did a good job, but he was at least trying to remain objective.

    @@jamesmoniz5263 I've found Gothem to be annoying and haven't watched him much at all in years but iirc on the few videos I saw on this topic, his stance on the situation was "I'm not saying he cheated *wink wink*" with his comment section all railing on Hans and making anal bead jokes. TBF to Hans, (I'm not a fan of either of these guys), Gothem is able to sit there with plausible deniability while all his fans read into the titles to accuse him of cheating. The clickbait is just on the line of neutrality to where it could be viewed either way depending on your pov on the whole situation. I can see why Hans is defensive/annoyed simply because Gothem is clearly just playing dumb while stirring the pot with his titles.

    I wrote a huge response about why CAPS and the engine evaluation during the game differ, why Lichess analysis is unreliable due to a flaw in its distributed model that is actually necessary for Lichess to remain free, and the methods used to get reliable chess analysis results by using consistent specific hardware and correctly configured firmware+software, but nobody wants to read all of that. You didn't even want to read all of this. Long story short: Computers are complicated and most of us have no idea what the data we are being presented with means or if it is a reliable representation of what it claims to be. CAPS is not quite the same as raw engine correlated accuracy because it uses aggregation (sorting) and a game context-aware algorithm. So, when you look at the engine eval during the game and it is different, it isn't always a case of one instance being right and the other being wrong. It is more likely that they are representing different things. Rapport may have been better at one or more points in terms of raw evaluation, but when all of those peaks and valleys were aggretated into the final score, we saw that accuracy and adjusted precision scoring told different stories.

    I don't. Even this one is nothing brilliant and his yammering about Magnus retiring from the tournament where the Hans brouhaha started was absolutely brain dead. Magnus was upset that his concerns weren't being taken seriously. MVL has expressed similar concerns. Fabi recently said that chess organizers aren't doing a good job re anti-cheat protocols. Danny at Chesscom recently went on and on about how they are finally going to get seriously serious about online cheating. This whole discussion, which is absolutely critical, only started because Magnus made his dramatic move and all Ben could do was whine that is impolite to quit a tournament. It was just awful.

    @@johnrichardson7629A dude wh hasn't been convinced was cancelled and suffered a lot of public humiliation and career setbacks. Something good coming out of the drama doesn't justify the horrific behaviour of the public who cancelled hand, not the players who fed this controversy and without proof. It's easy enough to say "There's no proof, I withhold judgement, but the cheating situation is really bad" but they didn't do that either. You're also not taking into account how witch hunty people can get at certain topics. Imagine Hans cheating online but never otb, and then playing good on his own. That would be a super hard situation to stay silent in for people who brought into the baseless (as far as the public knows ) allegations and rumours.

    I once played a game where i played an aggresive opening that basically once my opponent plays a certain move i gets a massive attack. The moves was pretty easy to find and the game didnt end in a checkmate, it was 11 moves and the moves way quite easy that i pretty much always finds the best moves according to engine apart from the book moves. According to cc it was a 100% accuracy. Literally. Because every move was top engine line. But according to lichess its 11 centipawn loss 6 centipawn loss is mind boggling

    I'm a fan of gotham chess but I'm with Hans on this one. I watched that video and its title did insinuate he'd cheated. Levy was looking at all this like it's just a funny joke but for Hans, it's his life. He's already felt betrayed by the Botez sisters and seeing Levy crack a joke at his expense must have been painfull. Lots of love to Levy, but like I said, I'm with Hans on this.

    The only difference is Gotham's video wasn't specifically about Hans. He makes daily recaps highlighting several games from the tournament each round. Hans' game was just one of like 6 that he featured in the video. But Hans gets clicks so it's a pretty good title to use.

    I just watched the Rapport vs Nieman game video posted by Levy and clearly what Levy is saying is that Neiman played spectacularly. I don't understand why Neiman has to be offended. If anything, Levy spoke positively about that particular game. It seems to me that Nieman is hypersensitive perhaps to create a bit of controversy and maintain media attention. It is true that Levy says that Neiman played with 100% accuracy, but in any case that was repeating what Neiman himself said. All this is not new, Fischer in his time also created his own media situations. My two cents.

    Levy can make every clickbait title he wants about Magnus playing better than stockfish and Hikaru playing a 100% game and having an estimated elo of 3800 but the moment it’s about Hans everyone is up in arms? Don’t project your own belief that Hans cheated onto Levy.

  • @aodhhanswtor7252
    @aodhhanswtor72527 ай бұрын

    People lose their mind when it comes to the percentage. The percentage is based on the engine as it is rated today. In 10 years, when processing power is stronger and an engine rated 400 Elo higher than Stockfish is today is used to review a game, it may see the same game played at a different percentage. Additionally, a human player may make a knowingly play a inferior move to get an opponent out of preparation. Seeing this as a better strategy. Or play towards different tactics which better suits their style. Which they see as being better against the given opponent. When it comes to opinions. Everyone has one, and they tend to be subjective. Given this, to say one person's opinion is good or bad is a poor way to make judgement. As everyone makes mistakes, is wrong from time to time, etc. Better to just let them say/think whatever they want. Life is too short to dwell on opinions.
