You guys should react to the band that invented the “beauty and the beast” style. It’s actually the first band of Liv Kristine ( the girl singing in this video). The band is called “Theatre of Tragedy”. Their first two albums created this style. Try “On Whom the Moon Doth Shine” or “the Masquerader and the Phoenix” or maybe “Black as the Devil Painteth” ( all studio versions). Very good lyrics as well and their songs as structured like plays.

Thank you guys so much for doing COF. Amazing band! I took my 14 year old to see them 2 years ago and they blew us away. We were in the front. Danny and the band gained my lifetime respect and loyalty that night as a fan and father. Danny came off stage at the end and pushed everyone away, handing my son the set list. They are true gems. Give a listen to Ghost in the Fog. You won’t be let down. Be well! Also... other songs are WAY harder and WAY more explicit... but he is a lyrical master.

I used to live in Ipswich Suffolk which at the time Dani from cradle lived. He now lives in a Suffolk village. Anyway I was massive into cradle at the time ( I still love them but I'm not obsessed like I was) I was wearing a cradle t-shirt and this black Audi TT slowed down and the black tint window rolls down and it was Dani and he complimented my choice of shirt gave me the horns and drove away. By the way his number plate was COF 666!!.That was the first of many times I saw him and I talked to him for a good few minutes in the local Sainsbury's he was such a cool down to earth guy. I used to busk in the town and Gian stopped and gave me a twenty pound note. I got talking to him and he told me his favourite tracks on the album they had just done which was damnation and a day. He gave me the money cos it was his birthday and I was wearing a cradle of filth t-shirts. I met half a dozen of them and they we're all really cool and just down to earth. Sarah Jezebel Diva their clear / operatic singer was such a lovely person. I also have a very rare tape demo they done when they were just starting out it's bloody heavy and Dani sounds evil on it. Dani filth is one of the best songwriters I've ever heard his lyrics are really intelligent and he clearly has a good intellect with classic reference to goddesses, ancient history and sexual references thrown in for good measure. There best era sadly gone now but still a good listen.🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇬🇧👍

Meant to put I've been into cradle since 97 and them years was the greatest incarnation of cradle. I don't understand why they used to get so much hate. They where Brits smashing the scene with heavy intelligent awesome music which twenty five years later still stands and sounds fucking excellent IE cruelty and the beast also later works like Midian and damnation and a day ( which I think I way under appreciated) and they toured constantly flying the flag for England and they got so much hate from their own countrymen and women. If anyone hasn't heard those albums seriously give them a listen they are unbelievably good albums.

Starting in '87 i did a pirate radio station that I carried on for a couple of decades. It was well established, well known and with a wide range (at the end of it's time on air my range was about 30 miles in all directions from my 10 story tower,.. 60 miles wide total range). You mentioned a couple of things that I wanted to help you understand better about this song,. as it was probably one of the most played on my station after the album was released well into the stations history. I am just an old man now (as a young teen, I remember when Black Sabbath first came out,.. if that gives you an idea). But I am guessing through comments here you already know much more about the band and this song. My question is to you guys,. who is the awesome band / song you have playing as your channels theme? That is full rage,.. totally enjoyed hearing what little there was at the end of your vid and would like to know the name of it please. Great reaction. Liked and subscribed. Thanks.

Dani Filth (singer and lyricist) suggests that the title means to have an addiction to beautiful classical women to the point of overdosing on their beauty - hence the title of the song - a portmanteau of nymph and amphetamine. Cradle are a chameleon musically - this song was from 2004, their "Mall-Goth" phase, if you will. They do an interesting version of the Sisters of Mercy classic "No Time To Cry" as well. They were more black metal on their early works, but shifted to symphonic metal, though the lyrics have always had Romantic Poetry and Gothic Horror as their basis - my personal favourite era of theirs was the "Cruelty and the Beast" album - which is a darkly romantic take on Elizabeth Bathory. Of their later output, "Hammer of the Witches" is a good album - listen to "Right Wing of the Garden Triptych" off that one. Cradle have always been more grandiose and dramatic than heavy, but a good mix of both would be "The Rape and Ruin of Angels (Hosannas In Extremis)" off the "Vempire" EP, or "Funeral in Carpathia" off the darkly majestic "Dusk... And Her Embrace" album.

Honestly from the look of you I assumed you had to be lying that you had never listened to cradle of Filth, I'm glad I gave you the benefit of the doubt that you weren't lying but I also imagine you will come to love them very much

This is just a segment of a bigger song. Nyphetamine (Overdose) is much more representative of their catalogue. It also gives this part of the song context lyrically.

I remember Steve Hughes talked about listening to Enya. "Most of you haven't listened to Slayer for 8 hours in one day. You get up to that type of nonsense, you do need something to relax in the afternoon." "You hate Enya? It's just silence colored in. That's all it is. It's like being upset with a waterfall."

This is the first song I heard by Cradle of Filth and it is still my favorite to this day :D Also I am so happy that I am not the only one thinking: OMG I love his jacket :D For spooky month I recommend SKYND. They make music about true crimes, serial killers and that kind of stuff. They just released a song about the Columbine Shooting in 1999 called 'Columbine'. Back in the days artists like Marilyn Manson got blamed for the shooting and I think it makes it even more interesting that an artist from that scene made a song about it. But be sure, SKYND has a pretty different sound :D Still highly recommend it :D

Cruelty brought thee orchids, her ghost in the fog, mannequin, Babylon AD, Bathory Aria, beneath the howling stars, scorched earth erotica, from the cradle to enslave, etc. I could go on and on.

super good cradle of filth: cruelty and the beast is an extraordinary album, it's a concept piece about a darkly mythologized version of elizabeth bathory, the 'blood countess'. beneath the howling stars is the classic pick, but cruelty brought thee orchids is a good reaction piece too! heavy cradle: the midian album, which overall is a technical masterpiece but way too... edgelord tryhard, I guess, lyrically? anyway, death magick for adepts is a rad song, as are cthulu dawn, creatures that kissed in cold mirrors, her ghost in the fog, and amor e morte. cradle's always been very hit or miss for me, but the good stuff is very fun and memorable! of course, the wonderful liv kristine deserves listening to also. theatre of tragedy got me into heavy music as a kid, and it was a short walk from there to the gathering, within temptation, nightwish, after forever, and epica.

First I'd just like to say Great honest reaction dudes. Second: I'd like to point out that as a Metal-er there is no such thing as 'goth' OR a 'metal head'. I say that simply because as a Metal-er I remember (somewhat and vaguely, in the VERY few moments of sober and non-high/non-wired bits of clarity haha) the DECADE long fued that we-us Matal-ers had with they-them Punks from 1980 to 1990 (although TECHNICALLY it was 1981 to 1991). And I'd ALSO like to point out that there were/are 6, yes 6, and ONLY 6 (see what I did there? I found a way to use the number 666 in an indirect way) subcategories of Heavy Metal: 1 - Heavy Metal; 2 - Punk Metal; 3 - Speed Metal; 4 - Thrash Metal; 5 - Death Metal; 6 - Black Metal (my personal favorite). But with that being said, AGAIN great reaction video dudes. Can't wait to see more.

The first song I ever heard from cradle of filth was Gabrielle, I was 11 or 12 years old and it was the most bad ass hardcore thing I had ever heard. So you must give that a listen but my all time favorite Crafle of Filth song has always been from the cradle to enslave. But listen to all of their albums! They’re all unique and the style differs greatly over the years. It’s heavier at first and then softens over time like most bands.
