Sean Bean played an important role in drawing an audience for the first season in a cast of relative unknowns. I know he was one of the main reasons I was interested in the show. That and I was just beginning to read the books because I'd heard so much about them over the years and wanted to be prepared for the TV adaptation. Then his death just cemented he legendary status and hooked us all into finding out what else could possibly happen in this story when the 'main' character can be so mercilessy killed off like that.

Ned is the reason season 1 was so good. Sean Bean launched the series

Hes king to a few dozen, MAYBE few hundred at the absolutely optimistic best, primitive folk, after he had to stab his second love in the heart and get exiled by his own brother while both his sisters watched on. Bran only ever wanted to be a knight and to die when he lost the ability to walk, and eventually he becomes more of an emotionless husk to direct Westeros, something he is already fucking up in by making Bron Lord of High Garden and master of coin while simultaneously allowing the North and Iron Islands to be independen. Sansa is queen of a kingdom that has lost a massive portion of its population and food stores in the middle of winter while also losing several great houses in the process (Houses Bolton, Karstark, Umber, and Mormont having all gone extinct and likely a few others, with the likes of House Glover needing to be dealt with for treason.) Arguably the ONE person that got off decently is Arya who will get to travel the world as she pleases, and even then she has lost over half her family while the rest are scattered to the wind. Neds kids got fucked and I know he must be rolling in his grave.

Axelle Courtois he died to Protect his family from war and his daughters from the lannisters. He would had also died for jon. It would had been interesting what would had happenend if Robert would have find out about jon and try to kill him. Ned would had surely pick up a fight. He doesent hated the tagaryens and when Robert started to speak about lyanna or the tagaryen he gets little mad.

Ned died so the world would not know that Joffrey is not King Robert's son. Ned traded his honour to live at the wall how it was promised to him but Joffrey commanded his death to protect his claim of the throne.

He is not, that's one of many lessons the show is teaching us, there aren't any heroes or villains in Game Of Thrones “No man chooses evil because it is evil; he only mistakes it for happiness, the good he seeks.” And “a villain is a hero of the other side.” those two known quotes are very good depiction of moral standing of this series. Ned isn't a hero he is just a good man and like all man he is flawed.

Whenever I watch Ned Stark's death I feel like somebody stabbed me in the heart. I just cannot accept that he's gone. All he needs to do was left King's landing and take the support of Stannis. Just imagine, Stannis is sitting on the iron throne and Ned is hand of the king, the whole westeros would bend the knee! this tought gives me chill.

I missed him every season....that's why I became so attached to Jon, he raised him well and he kept reminding him.

He was honorable enough to return the Valyrian steel sword belonging to the guy who got stabbed in his back to his family

I miss him most, I still cant handle his absence, he was simply the best, a hero, a man of honor, a great father, a wonderful brother, a fair leader for whom you would sacrifice your life without any hesitation, This series is so great so amazing cause its so real in terms of losses, ned had so many children and was loved so much that every single one of them would become blind and lost after his death, and exactly this happened as cruel as life is, when I watched the episode of his beheading I got so emotional for his children and family, they were so young and needed him much like never before, I lost my father 15 years ago and I still cant forget that day and the pain it left inside of me...

Last season of Got, and still, Ned is definitely my favourite character. A man of honor and wisdom, the symbol of the Stark house.

I love how you began with ned saying his life is not some precious thing to him and he would not trade his honour for a couple of years of nothing, and ended with lord varys saying if his daughter's life was a precious thing to him and then ned reciting the false confession to the crowd. It shows how ned traded his honour for the safety of his daughters and got killed for it. Beauty among the ruins I'd say. Amazing video man ❤

A lot of people say that it's Ned's honor (or his expectation for others to be honorable) that got him killed. This is true, but I don't think that's a bad thing. Ned was beyond petty squabbles. He was selfless. In the end he transcends the game of thrones

Ned's death at the end of Season 1 was the point that I knew I was hooked on GoT. He's such a well defined character and his storyline echoes down the entire series. The fact that George Martin was willing to kill him off just showed us how dangerous it was to be a good person in a cruel man's world. He'll always be my favourite character.

This is incredible! One of the greatest characters in the show, no matter what anyone says. Ned Stark was the most honourable man in Westeros.

I love house Stark.. Ned was my favorite character. I'm still shocked about his execution

Out of all deaths, he's still the one I miss the most, and this tributes illustrates why. He was a honorable man to the bitter end, no matter the cost, and for that even after his death, the strength of his name crowned two Kings (Robb and Jon). The North Remembers! PS: Could you perhaps do a tribute to Varys? He's one character who never gets tributes.

So many characters came and go but Ned stark will always have a very special place in our hearts .

Lord Eddard Stark. The man who will not be repeated at any time or in any era. There is no one like him, neither in reality nor in imagination.
