So affordable for a handmade instrument. I took up ukulele to have an instrument I could play at night and not bother neighbors or anybody sleeping in the house. I wanted something smaller, quieter, more casual and less serious than my guitars that I could just noodle around with whenever the mood struck me. Very tempting.😎 Nicely done Barry

Now that's a cool ukulele. When you said it was a quiet instrument I didn't expect it to sound that "high" as it really is. This one I will consider to lay my hand on when the time is right. Thank you so much for a good review 💕

When I see Bonanza in the notification I get excited !! It’s like you say “ What’s Pete done now” !! That’s what I’m thinking about also ! Believe me, I love figured wood instruments their beautiful. But I’m getting more excited about builders doing new things more then flashy over priced eye candy. Kudos to Pete. He’s done it again. Again Kudos !!

Quite interesting (additional) instrument to express yourself, both visually and - YES - acoustically! Essentially the concept of Pete Howlett‘s 'Revelator‘ model, for a fifth of the price … w/ the (i guess big) difference that here, the back is added, not the soundboard. Assumingly that is the reason why it lacks volume, and has this restricted, yet lovable voice, by which i mean the tone characteristics.

  • @GotAUkulele

I actually absolutely love this instrument. I wish you could have given a quick strum to the soprano but I get the time limitation thing. I no longer play publicly (and never did on ukes), so I'm not bothered too much about massive projection. Tone would matter and while it sounds a little thin, it's hardly offensive and is part & parcel of 'the package'. Anyway I'm waffling, it looks unique and I love it. BTW, what did you think of the soprano? Great review, as per...👍

  • @GotAUkulele

You'd be unable to reset the neck at all. I think the cases of needing that are pretty rare though - only ukes i've known that needed them were those getting on for 70-100 years old. I won't be here in 70 years!!

I feel like Pete sends you better quality ukes than the average customer receives. Or maybe that's just me. I got a uke that was garbage. The action was terrible. The fretboard was a half inch thick and gouged in places. The frets were an awful mess with sharp edges, tool marks all over, and one free wasn't set all the way in. The inlays were an absolute joke. And for a uke with hpl back and sides it was very heavy. All of this could have been overlooked and worked with had the sound been good. It wasn't even decent. I tried 6 different sets of strings. Even went with a low g to see if it liked singing low. Nope. All muddy muffled garbage. Makes sense seeing as the top was just under a quarter inch thick! Anyway when I hit up Pete he blamed my playing and was totally unhelpful until I sent him pictures of his blatant defects. He offered to buy back the uke at a reduced price. After a really passive aggressive conversation I refused. He was only interested in buying it back after I proved it was a junker. I sold it cheaper than he offered to a buddy. I'd rather build #429 live on as Pete's legacy then be hidden away after my dealings with him. These reviews of his ukes always make my skin crawl. I hope I'm in the minority here and most people have lovely experiences but I will never trust Pete again.
