    Dont think of scales as major and minor :D Just think of the minor as the 6th of the major key. I personally think of every key as a major key, even when it's in minor (for example, when a song is in a minor, I think of it as C major that just starts with the VI chord)

    when counter pointing a lead with in a score for improv, i usually use the second degree of the scale as a major with leads like amazing grace go to the second major before you go to the fifth but in some compositions i do if i wanted more of a meloncholoy sound with the piece i will substitute the second degree as a minor scale instead of major the resolve is just as potent and affective as the major if not more lol I am interested in taking your master class i think there is lots that i will benefit from it i think it is something you are onto here with compositional technique i will let you know if i subscribe im on a fixed income at the time being as a disable army veteran but i think you have something that is an acctual golden nugget of knowlege for me to glean from .

    what is the difference between chromatic as aposed to Diatonic? and are there other than chromatic and diatonic?

  • @chidinduuwaeziozi7360

    @chidinduuwaeziozi7360

    Diatonic is in the particular key. If it isn't in that key, it is chromatic to that key. Every key has 7 notes that are diatonic and the rest of the 5 notes that aren't in that key are chromatic.

    Now, in key Cmaj, C is a diatonic note and Cmaj7 [CEGB] is a diatonic chords [because the notes are entirely from diatonic notes]. However, C7 [CEGBb] is not diatonic because though the root [first] note, and another 2 notes [C, E & G] are diatonic, the last note [Bb] isn't diatonic. So, C7 in key Cmaj is considered chromatic because it contains a chromatic note.

    @@chidinduuwaeziozi7360 ok so like key of c would be the diatonic c,d,e,f,g,a,b and the Chromatic will be C#, D#, F#,G#,A#, ? The Accidentals?
