She's so beautiful, the slow motion capture of her wings looks like a beautiful expressive dance being performed
"She's ready to fly, isn't she?" "YOU'RE DAMN RIGHT I AM, NOW BRING ON THE MEAT!!!"
Tries to feed the Goshawk a water balloon. 'So you have chosen death'
Well, you're in for a treat then... We've got a special peregrine and raven film coming up, filmed from a tracking vehicle, make sure you subscribe and watch out for it! Also make sure you check out the films we made with Red Bull, including the view from the back of Moses the peregrine...
And thank you ever so much for enjoying it!
The legs are so much longer than I thought.

You should see the Eurasian sparrowhawk, lol
guys, this is really amazing and this mustve taken a lot of time so i give you guys respect :0
I'm sure she thought that was one juicy prey - blood spraying out all over the place. lol
Throw a distraction at the same time to see her choice would be nice. Or make her catch something inside a frame that she need to fly through

+TheSwampHumanoid This is the same goshawk they used in the "goshawk flies through hole" video. The outcome is blatantly obvious-the she will succeed.
Oh my goodness, ravens, I can't wait. Watching out for that and more! Absolutely incredible animal videos, but you already know that. These detailed renders are invaluable for any artist and I couldn't thank your team more for your time and dedication to bring this footage to us. A+
The complexity of the movement of all the wing's joints and feathers is mind-blowing and can only really be appreciated in a video like this. The bird's wings change shape and orientation in endless ways. No wonder human attempts to build machines to imitate this have so far failed miserably.
Funnily enough, we have been filming hummingbirds lately... keep an eye out for something coming up.

how many fps did you capture that hummingbird slow mo video?
I would love to see a snowy owl in slow motion like this.
I like that at 5000fps you can see the feathers turn out and as she brings her wings back up they turn back one by one before she flaps again. I wonder if you can see some interesting flight patterns at higher speeds.

wrong frame rate, but you're right
this is an amazing video. You can really see how the bird is swinging herself up to put as much momentum into the first impact of the lure and all of the minute adjustments to her wings and tail to keep her on course. It happens all the time with raptors but all too quickly to really appreciate it. Thanks for doing this video.
Wow. Thanks. Glad you loved it!
What I see is the hawk slamming on the brakes at the final moment; all that kinetic energy gets transferred to the talons, like a 18 wheel truck slamming into a VW bug.
I would love to see what the Goshawk does in the wild, catch a bird in midair. In sloooo-mo of course. Feathers flying everywhere!
Hawks are pigeon assassins.
The human eye alone could never captured these fantastic images, Thankyou so much
I'm reading MacDonald's "H is for Hawk" so was delighted to find this video ... I've never understood people taking pleasure in seeing predation, so am very glad you did not use a live animal, or even chunks of dead animals... That said, I was surprised that this supreme predator was willing to repeat "capturing" non-prey objects.

Beautiful moving book. That is why I'm here too!
That shot at 5:30 was really special. Good work, dudes!
This is THE MOST INCREDIBLE video I have EVER seen!! I have hawks around my house here in South Carolina, USA...It is just amazing to see this bird in flight and the way each movement is carefully crafted to make the most of her catch! YOU GUYS ROCK!! I am sharing this video with the world!!! Keep up the awesome work!!!!!!!
I've always been fascinated with birds of prey, the always seem to pinpoint their attacks on prey so perfectly *-*
Amazing shots! I'd love to see top down footage too, the dynamics of those top feathers as the airflow changes is one of my favorite things in nature :)
Some of the best photography I have ever seen. Wonderful!!!!!!!
This should be in 3D, and then shown on the tv's in shops. Would be so amazing!
Hope you've checked our rattlesnake! It was an early Slo Mo for us - look out for episode 3 in the channel!
OMG, that bird is beautiful, gorgeous. You have made a amazing job.
If you really want to push the envelope, I believe the pistol shrimps' stike is the fastest thing in the animal kingdom. You might have to film at 10, 000 fps or more to see the cavitation bubble it produces.
Beautiful!
Best video ever hope you guys will be popular soon :) and put ads I would press on it, for awesome vid like this
The part that amazed me in the final 5000fps shot, was that the Goshawk did not just pop the balloon. She caught and carried the entire popped balloon's rubber casing in a fraction of a second DURING its explosion.
Simply fascinating!
this is absolutely spectacular! i live just south of algonquin park so large birds (eagles, hawks, turkeys, vultures, etc) are not a rare sight but it's breath-taking to be this "up close and personal" - next time i see a black dot in the sky, i'll know what is happening!
Yes I remembered it before the purple candle and the mouldy macca
Awesome show!! We have some ideas: 1. Cat preparing to attack or being dropped from a height and landing on its feet. That would look amazing in slow-mo 2. A mosquito piercing the skin and sucking blood!!!!
Amazing video, next time you should go for >9000!
you guys ever thought of doing anything with the archer fish? you know, the species that shoots water from their mouths at insects on leaves to knock them into the water. might provide some good footage.
A Kingfisher would be amazing!
beautiful bird!
Is it possible to photograph these birds against a neutral grey background rather than black? The video is really great and I think you would see even more of the bird against a lighter background - thanks for sharing your work.
Amazing. I think one of these (or a cousin?) was staying with us in the Mojave Desert. (S)he had a problem with one wing, so stayed very close, but didn't have trouble catching prey. Used to really enjoy spending time with her as she sat in a tree outside the house, looking in. She seemed as fascinated by me as I was by her.
lovely. Thanks a lot.
Amazing
3:57 cooooooooool
I'd love to see the rattle of a diamondback going off at several thousand frames per second. Maybe throw in a few strikes as well for good measure.
Great video. The last time she hit that water balloon and she hardly got wet, just a little on her tail feathers.
very good vid have you got anything on their maneuverability
Awesome videos guys! Any chance of a slow-mo capture of a kingfisher breaking a water's surface? Maybe even a hummingbird hovering in one spot :]
I love this ambient soundtrack. Can you tell us the name of the music?
I like your dino shirt.
We get these in Wyoming, but I'll tell you what--I've never seen them like this 0_0
i'd think the "cheetah of the sky" would be the peregrine falcon...
A secretary bird on this would be wonderfull
Awesome fun
If you guys like these you should check out the slow mo guys.
I would like to see captured on film a stiletto snake striking. How high can you shoot? I'm not too up on top-speeds, but I'd shoot it as high as you can go!
I don't know how high, but what about a sting rays attach mechanism?
These birds must see in slo mo
over 9000!
1:55 that bird has bling :D
Hate goshawks, but love the slo-mo of the beautiful flight feathers and the way it maneuvers toward the target. Great video.

Why do you hate goshawks? And why do you have a picture of a crossed out wind-turbine? Ur clearly a poorly informed person...
Slow motion Peregrin Falcon!
5:38 "what kind of sick game is this?"
And people say feathered dinosaurs aren't cool.
one video i saw was a viper striking a water balloon in slow mo - try that
What is the ambient soundtrack at the beginning of the video?
Holy...
Oh, live prey at 7500 would rock.
slightly unnerving as it flies head on :D
Get the talons closing at 10000
It looked like she learned to keep the water balloon away from her to keep her from getting herself wet
This is the same goshawk in the infamous "goshawk flies through hole) video.

animators!!!! pay attention!!!!!
Why am I born as human :( ?
A great question my friend, the answer according to Ramesh Raskar is one trillion FPS (1,000,000,000,000 frames/sec)... check out the video, /watch?v=Y_9vd4HWlVA
That was awesome
Beautiful!
