The snare is in a similar frequency range to the guitars/keys and so some of the notes those are playing are coming through slightly whenever the snare hits. As a result it’s giving your brain more of a starting point for the key and then you are instinctively filling in the rest.

@Daniel Duma Honestly, as a drummer, the snare being tuned to notes to match the key of a song thing is mostly a myth. Sometimes done in certain kinds of jazz music, but very very rare outside of that. In the case of this video, I would guess that the snare is in a similar frequency range to the original tracks guitars/keys, and so when they were filtered out some of the sound from those instruments was left behind in the snare, and that’s what people are hearing.

I realized, at the end, the drum pattern is very similar to Tomorrow Comes Today. you could easily segway it into that song. example: Play this song with full instruments > at the end of Clint strip it down to drums/vocals like you did here> transition to Tomorrow comes today drum pattern (it might even be the same) > then add in that songs elements one by one. that'd be really cool. I could do it myself, but I'm not sure how you separated the tracks so well. [Edit: the drums are nearly identical! The other one has slight variations in intonation and a slightly fast BPM. but its soooo close]

In psychology there is a thing called 'The Gestalt Principles'. They are usually used in reference to vision. The Gestalt principles are: Proximity, similarity, continuity, figure ground and closure. They are all things we use to gather implications from what we are seeing. Look them up individually if you wanna know more but I feel like even though this is audio based this is an extremely good example of closure. It's our brain filling in gaps that aren't there.

Picture you gettin' down in a picture tube Like you lit the fuse You think it's fictional? Mystical? Maybe Spiritual Hero who appears in you to clear your view when you're too crazy Lifeless To those the definition for what life is Priceless To you because I put you on the hype shit You like it? Gun smokin' righteous with one toke You're psychic among those Possess you with one go I ain't happy, I'm feeling glad I got sunshine in a bag I'm useless but not for long The future is coming on I ain't happy, I'm feeling glad I got sunshine in a bag I'm useless but not for long The future (that's right) is coming on It's coming on It's coming on It's coming on The essence the basics Without it you make it Allow me to make this Child-like in nature Rhythm You have it or you don't that's a fallacy I'm in them Every sprouting tree Every child of peace Every cloud and sea You see with your eyes I see destruction and demise Corruption in disguise (that's right) From this fuckin' enterprise Now I'm sucked into your lies Through Russel, not his muscles but percussion he provides For me as a guide (Say what) Y'all can see me now 'cause you don't see with your eye You perceive with your mind That's the inner (fuck 'em) So I'mma stick around with Russ and be a mentor Bust a few rhymes so motherfuckers remember where the thought is I brought all this So you can survive when law is lawless (right here) Feelings, sensations that you thought was dead No squealing, remember that it's all in your head I ain't happy, I'm feeling glad I got sunshine in a bag I'm useless but not for long The future is coming on I ain't happy, I'm feeling glad I got sunshine in a bag I'm useless but not for long My future is coming on It's coming on It's coming on It's coming on It's coming on My future is coming on It's coming on It's coming on It's coming on It's coming on My future is coming on It's coming on It's coming on It's coming on It's coming on My future is coming on It's coming on It's coming on My future is coming on It's coming on It's coming on My future is coming on It's coming on It's coming on My future
