Gorgoroth Twilight Of The Idols (Full Album)

Twilight of the Idols (In Conspiracy with Satan) is the sixth album by Norwegian black metal band Gorgoroth. It was released on 21 July 2003 by Nuclear Blast, and reissued in 2006 by Back on Black Records.
This was the first album on which Infernus was not the main songwriter. Instead, the music for this album was composed by bassist King ov Hell and drummer Kvitrafn. The album cover depicted a burning church, but due to the ensuing controversy, some copies of the album featured a picture of the band members instead.

Gaahl era is the best to me, not that I dont like the rest (because I do), but Gaahl brought a mysterious weirdness to the band that drew me in further to black metal of all kinds, in addition to opening doors like traditional Scandinavian folk music and a heightened interest in the intellectual side of this genre. Just my two cents, for what it's worth. Although the new live stuff with Hoest is pretty awesome, too.

@S.M.B Not really, at least not that I know of, kinda one reason why Gorgoroth is popular in the genre, cause its unique. Sometimes bm gets closer to dissonant/heavy rock but I don't think it's really a thing for bands. Gaahls has other bands though, like Trelldom and Gaahls Wyrd that both tends to be more scandinavian folk/rock but with still bm parts as well.

BM has always been my favourite genre since 2000 till now. It has so many forms, so many feelings, I just love it. I'll always love the coldeness and the sharpness of this genre. From Mayhem, Marduk, Emperor to Deathspell Omega, Mysthirming, Antaeus, Funeral Mist, etc nothing compares to black metal... Unrelated, I also love electronica haha.

I know and heard hundeds of bands and thousands of albums, and still haven't found anything equally evil sounding, same goes for Ad Majorem Sathanas Gloriam. Of course there are many bands who play similar black metal, and bands that sound equally savage and brutal in their own right, but this specific sound and insanity, both in vocals instruments and even rough yet powerful and massive production. This album is everything I love black metal for.

I think Pest is a better Vocalist and their earlier albums are better but these guys didn't understand what I was saying KEYWORD BEST ALBUM FROM GAAHLS TIME IN THE BAND. MEANING BEST ALBUM OF THE GAAHL ERA NOT BEST ALBUM OF THEIR WHOLE HISTORY. Did I make my point ? lol

I listened Gorgoroth and for me that's the last good album :  - No more Infernus on the composition. - Tormentor leaved. - No more Nuclear blast. - Next one was composed by Gaahl and he tried to get the rights of the band. Apparently Pest and Tormentor were back in 2008 after that the name of Gorgoroth was back to Infernus. I should listen to this one more, but still for me something will not be the same. Am I alone ?

Most people are fixed with the first lp, the first "tru-kvlt" demo, whatever..Listening to metal for more than 3 decades now, my personal opinion is that many bands struggle to repeat the awesomeness of their initial releases, but other bands get better after their first 1-2 albums. Examples that come to mind..Sodom. For me, they got better with time. Agent Orange is 100 times better than Obsessed. On the other hand, Moonspell will never reach the zenith of Wolfheart and Irreligious. Gorgoroth is one of the bands that got nastier and better with time. For me their demos and their first 2 records sound weak compared to the Gorgoroth sound after Incipit Satan. Twilight is even better than Incipit, and their eternal masterpiece for me is Ad Majorem Sathanas Gloriam. In any case, Gorgoroth plus Gaahl is a whole different thing. For me the formula Gorgoroth + Gaahl is a much more powerful and sinister version of the band.

@@aaronblashyrkh7655 a few different reasons. Publicly infernus stated that they didn't want any copycats or people covering their music. I'm assuming he's not big into people doing covers of their songs. I think also an unspoken thing that's a little obvious it leaves mystique and mystery to the music. Keep certain people guessing. Helps with keeping the controversy about the band. the one thing that is for certain is that they go out of their way to keep their lyrics and music (tabs) suppressed to the public.
