If you want it to look distressed use reclaimed scaffold boards for the top

I like how you used the power cord of the miter saw to hold the shop vac hose into position. Very clever solution!

Hi, your bench turned out beautifully and I do have one question. Did you give the legs of your bench a miter cut or was it a bevel cut? I’ve been watching many videos on how to make cuts with miter saws and some say that if the wood is placed on the “higher position “ not laying it flat then the cut becomes bevel. Anyway I’m a bit confused because I think you made either a 10 or 15 degree miter cut. I’d appreciate your input as I’m about to start my own bench and I’m new to this. Thanks.

Thanks for your question! I just did miter cuts. I'm a beginner so keeping it simple with the tools I have works best for me.

Hello Amy! I love your videos. Thank you for your ideas and expertise. Could you please tell me the whitewash you are using? Is it the Varathane Wood Stain White Wash you used on the Vintage Farmhouse Table? I ordered the Rove and Dwell Farmhouse Stain, and I love it! Thank you.

Thanks so much, Shelia! The Varathane white wash is exactly what I used on the vintage farmhouse table and I love the results! That exact brand was out for several months so I tried Behr fast drying water-based wood stain - white wash pickling... and it's OK but the varathane is by far better color, control, and coverage. It works so well over Rove and Dwell's farmhouse stain.

Can you list the stains that you used?

Sure, Rove and Dwell’s Farmhouse stain which is no longer available. To replace this step, I've started using Varathane's Early American and it looks perfect. Then, a layer of Varathane White Wash Stain. You can always find these details in my blog posts too.
