    It is so crazy to see how Gordon is so detailed and obsessed with the finest of details to make sure the customer gets the best meal possible. Unbelievable to see how the smallest of touches is done to a science. All that experience and success comes from so much failures and retries. How many chefs would have said good enough and served it but to him he wanted the best because of his name and reputation. That's a man who cares.

    I don’t blame Gordon here, the food should be coming out of the kitchen top shelf. It’s mistakes like those that breed laziness in the kitchen, and how many chefs have we seen on Kitchen Nightmares that are complacent and don’t care about the food they’re serving? It’s more than just wasting expensive food, it’s about having pride and standards in the kitchen.

  • @collectorduck9061

    @collectorduck9061

    5 жыл бұрын

    @@tylermane77 I'm gonna pick up on your comment and go a little bit further than you might have intended.. but yeah, high end restaurants are indeed a little bit bullshit =) Ask Gordon's mentor Marco Pierre White if he misses running a restaurant for pretentious snobby food critics just to keep his michelin stars. Working your ass off 24/7 for some stuck up cunts who don't even understand the food half as well as the chefs do. Or even worse, the average rich douchebag customer who wouldn't taste the difference between fish and beef, let alone the taste experiences they try to serve up for them. But they're there to impress some slag they want to fuck and spend some extra money on a meal because it makes them look like Mr. Big. Meanwhile, the staff and yourself are working your asses off in the kitchen and if you're lucky the customers don't actually complain about something that night. Don't get me wrong. There are incredibly talented chefs out there. And by talented, I mean they're really really really hard working people who pretty much give their lives for it and achieve tremendous skill, but is it worth it.. really? The aforementioned Mr. White said it best. We live in a world of refinement now, not innovation. There's not that much more to invent. When things are invented they are few and far between, and the real innovation lies in perfecting your art. So yeah.. there's such a thing as incredible high skill cooking that produces the most impressive food. But it's hard to justify it as an industry besides the ability to get to that level as an objective goal. To be, fine dining is like fine art. It's kind of lost its way and become a breeding ground for rich twats to throw their money into. A thing for decadent rich people to brag through. And not so much a niche for truly interested people. But that's just my opinion.

    actually made a puree with those beaks that taste of nothing with some minced onion and garlic some shrimp shells, a pack of heavy cream, lemon juice, a bit of beer, salt, pepper and freshly fine grated coriander finished with a little touch of butter, paprika and a bit of chilli sauce, after everything simmered, reduced (well reduced) and seasoned it gave a hell of a sauce for the scallops....it was eating scallops topped with a sauce that tasted a lot of scallops with hints of lemon juice, some heat from chilli, the sweetness from the cream, the creaminess from the butter worked wonderfully well all together...
