Actually recently Uncle Roger went to Indonesia and he was a special guest as a judge in Master Chef junior for that country.

Hi, Mr. Steven and Ms. Peach. A viewer from Indonesia here. Like Roger said, "Anything can go in there". I can easily imagine this kind of recipe (with proper noodle type) in a dedicated Christian restaurant and stalls. Usually these will have clear image of pig, so it's easy to spot. As for the seasoning, I'm a bit confused with brown sugar and shrimp paste. For me, Mie Goreng's primary seasonings are sweet soy sauce, salt, sugar, garlic, and shallot. For MSG, it's optional. Places I go to tend to use oyster sauce as well, be it for noodles or other dishes. I am curious where Gordon got this brown sugar recipe from, but it still looks good.

The English word for ketchup comes directly from the Indonesian word kecap. There is a crazy history to why it's known as a tomato based sauce in the west. Originally it was that fishy sauce.

20:29 as an Indonesian, I have to agree that kecap manis (sweet soy sauce) is truly indispensable ingredient in our culture. We nearly put kecap manis in every single dish we had😅. As a someone who always put kecap manis in my rice as a breakfast I have to say kecap manis nearly can work with any dish (I even put kecap manis in my instant noodles, god I love my stupid soy sauce 🤣)

27:23 he made a pun about Pandora's box. In myth, if the box is open, it will let out chaos upon the world and will make the world full of chaos or something. So he said Pandora's wok, because of the uncertainty of the dish

Indonesian here, for me kecap manis is probably taste similar teriyaki sauce, but teriyaki sauce is saltier.

The English word ketchup actually comes from the Malay/Indonesian word cacup, which just means "sauce".

I wonder if the train in Tokyo has a lot of stops along the way? I’m just wondering that if the trains are that full it must be a nightmare to get off at your stop because I’d say that at every stop there are people trying to get on as you get off. Unless you get on the train on one side and get off on the other.

Nice to meet you! I've subscribed to your channel, but this is probably the first time I've commented. When I was watching the Drifters comedy, it popped up on Timeline and I signed up. Do you know 826aska? People from overseas are also paying attention to her amazing Electone playing. If you don't mind, why don't you listen to her "STAR WARS"?

I had horse in Canada. You can buy it at the supermarket. Was too chewy for me and not that tasty because of the lack of fat.
