Even towards the end of syndicated WML, it could gather a blindingly all star line up -- Gordon MacRae AND Mel Torme on the same set, plus his actress daughter, plus Arlene Francis (broadcasting both on WOR and NBC Monitor in 1973), plus early TV comedian Soupy Sales, moderated by Broadway actor Larry Blyden. Very amusing clip. Thanx for posting.

Gordon MacRae was really a fantastic singer, why dont we have that type today. And what a lovely daughter he had.

He has many daughters, not just Meredith.

Gordon McRae saw him on Oklahoma as a kid at the cinema, a very long time ago, so handsome and that beautiful voice. Also loved him in the desert song and Carrousel

This is a very rare appearance on WML by the great Mel Torme. I guarantee that if he was ever a regular on this show, he was so brilliant, it wouldn't have been fair to any of the other panelists excepting, of course, Arlene. Mega thanks for the post. I must've missed that issue of Cosmo! I sure hope it's in their web archive!(EVEN DEEPER SIGH) She is so deeply missed, she'd be a breath of fresh amongst those over-exposed, over-Botoxed "ladies" we are force-fed with today. Yup, she was that BEAUTIFUL.

Chet was born on May 23, 1929 and passed away on Friday, July 15, 2011.

I think there was a redux of this scenario, only Meredith did the guessing, I remember her saying "are you my father"?

Meredith Macrae died of a brain tumor while still fairly young. May she rest in peace.

@tvtimetravel I wonder if you ever got an answer to your question re the status of Chet Gould. I would also love to know. Still feel guilty about the fact that I, along with my childhood pal, wasn't very nice to him when we saw him on a regular basis during the last two years of WML. We used to make fun of his corny warm up jokes, but really, he was a good guy. Family man, just tryin to earn a living.

Gordo went a little heavy on the styling aids here. Like, plenty o’ pomade here!
