Ronnie's right. They'll be playing Lightfoot 150 years from now. The brilliance of his music and lyrics will not just disappear! He's up there with Shakespeare and Beethoven.

Glad both these old guys are still alive & kickin'. Both of them had serious medical crises years ago that could easily have killed them. In the early '00s, Gord had some abdominal condition that caused a dangerous internal bleeding emergency. Ronnie, in the early '00s, had inoperable, seemingly terminal pancreatic cancer (one of most fatal types of cancer). It seemed he was a goner. Miraculously, the cancer went into unexpected spontaneous remission, disappearing without a trace, leaving one wondering if the psychic healer who came to his aid, and/or the first nations medicine he took, just might have had something to do with his amazing cure. The 40th anniversary of the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald ship in Lake Superior just passed a few weeks back in Nov. 2015 reminding of Gord's (deservedly) famous song about the doomed ship, & what a rare songwriting talent he has. Keep on kickin', you two!

Ronnie had help from a young psychic healer from Victoria, who called him and said he could cure him. Gordon had more surgery, a conventional treatment in hospital.

I laugh so hard at that Ronnie Hawkins, he never changed one bit. Always about girls for him, and good for him. He'll probably out live us all. What time are you getting off? Hilarious stuff, I love it!

Wish I could sit down for a few hours and just listen to the stories these guys have to tell. Love the music and always will, but as good as it is, that's only half the tale. It would be an experience to hear the rest.

like gordon said, the lyrics today are hidden by the music and distractions and most people just dont listen to the meaning of songs being pout out today,

no those are not tattoos those are scars because back in the 60's and 70's and during the civil rights era there were a lot of fights going on and they used to throw beer bottles and glass at the stage and they hit him in the face with glass and bottles and well pretty much what you could think of
