I really recommended going through the comic, apparently the episodes will be going for a slightly different approach.

@@selfiros865 comics are on Webtoonz, and it’s way more grounded than the pilot lets on. Minor Spoiler- The only crazy thing Rocky does is drive a couple cars into a pig farm, and the confrontation between the Cajun twins/ Mordecai and Rocky’s gang never actually happens (yet?) The events in the pilot throw the timeline way off from what happens in the actual story. The comic also unfortunately isn’t finished, but it’s a very good read.

@@yarmch3686I should mentioned that the comic starts in May, 1927 (with the opening page mentioning that Lindberghs flight is happening at the same time) while the pilot takes place in September, 1927 (as Mitzi is reading about the death of Isadora Duncan in the newspaper), so it’s possible that the animation is just a continuation of the comic. Especially since Rocky suffers a major head injury right before the comic leaves off, which may make him go further off the hinges.

The fact that they’re cats has no bearing on the story, it’s just a stylistic choice. Even though the story could absolutely be told using human characters, it would be much harder to maintain the serious tone of the story if the humans were as expressive as the cats. Likewise, the story also has some pretty dark scenes that would be difficult to make light of if they were portrayed as humans. Cartoon cats offer the perfect balance! Also, season one is going to cover the main story points of volume one, which puts you in a tough position as a reactor. If you’re looking for more Lackadaisy content without spoilers, there’s some comic dubs on the Lackadaisy KZread channel where the voice actors dubbed some of the side comics that don’t spoil the main plot!

It’ll probably play a role, and most of the cast would still be within fighting age when the war breaks out, especially if they join in the 1930s. I could see Rocky and Freckles going into the military once prohibition ends and they have nothing else to channel their energy into.

@@SimoHayha43 It's the 1920s. 1927, to be exact. (Prohibition was in effect from 1920 to 1933.) Everybody in the show has about two years before the Great Depression hits, but even Freckle and Ivy will be 32 by the time the U.S. goes to war again. Technically, that means Freckle would still be of draft age, but if they're married by then, he'd be exempt.
