It's crazier than that. During the race, weird fans drive their stock trucks onto the track and pretend to race on it. Everyone listens for oncoming cars and thinks they can get off the track in time (because they're all loud as hell) but it usually results in a racer honking or even ramming spectator vehicles out of the way.

Quite a while ago the Baja 1000 had a motorcycle hit head-on by an oncoming car, it killed the rider! Then I believe 2013 one of the best desert Racers ever on a dirt bike hit a cow and died. Very sad day! he was one of my favorite guys I've ever had the pleasure of meeting

@@Miles_Goodson_Bangs_Kids Haha, I missed that one. Literally, at every spotting station, people are pulling that bullshit. And their stupid stock trucks look like clown cars compared to the real race trucks, they're not impressing anybody.

The driver is probably the most relaxed looking driver I have ever seen in the cockpit. Smooth and relaxed. Nicely done.

The truck does all the work. There is no looking for traction, no avoiding bumps. It just takes it and powers through. Amazing truck. If you want amazing driving watch someone do this in a VW Bug.

Holy shit at the little Toyota Pickup/Hilux that was in the middle of the course around the 8:45 mark. That's a WTF moment for sure!

Being from the east coast and being a Baja fan for as long as I remember, you can't comprehend how bad the desert is until you ride on it. You hit silt and you're whole vehicle is swamped in fine dust that enters the cab from directions that you didn't think possible. The only other terrain that's tuffer is rock and you better pay attention indy desert or you'll be rock climbing unexpectedly.

That is one of the most terrifying on-boards I have seen since group B got banned in WRC because of the uncontrolled crowds. People with their tents literally right on the edge of the "track" while you blast at high speed with the way ahead blinded from you by the dust of cars you are overtaking. WTF? The potential for a multi-fatal accident is virtually continuous. How is a driver going to feel if they make the tiny diversion it would take to plough into those crowds? I don;t think you'd ever get over that. Don't take me for a wooze - I loved the driver's skill and that noise & movement of that epic trophy truck... but the risk? OMG.

every time i watch these, I can't stop thinking, "one broken tie rod, blown tire, swaybar, anything really can send these cars flying off course." There's no room for error with spectators literally on the course, and this isn't even bad compared to the baja 1000.

Nice driving. I dream of seeing what I could do in one of those....Qs: Can you have a pit crew in charge of cleaning the GoPros? And HOW did the Fuel issue happen....someone forgot at the pit stop? The hydraulic lifts were insane....Know you are so blessed to get to do this.

It really looks and sounds like a speed boat on dunes.

It's been a lifelong dream to be able to drive one a trophy truck! Unfortunately I was paralyzed on my motorcycle several years ago, so I don't think it's really possible anymore😢

(16:35min mark) - holy crap, no idea trophy trucks had undercarriage hydraulic lifts installed on them.

Awesome trophy truck flying along over anything. The view of how hard suspension works to keep truck smooth is mind blowing. Crazy to see spectators so close too edge of running line. The driver would have been thinking please don't brake something or loose control causing him to fly off track or crashing through everyone. Don't get me wrong if we were allowed to stand so close we probably would be aswell. Some people that are jumping away from rut at last minute are taking it too far. Not only they die but driver and other spectators would have to live with it. Avagud1

Those dust pockets had me white knucking my mouse. I wonder how often those stupid people that stand too far into the road get hit.

I'm shocked at the size of the braking and acceleration whoops. They seem dug out deeper than the suspension has travel. Like MX tracks get. I raced Mammoth DH before shocks on MTB's and after. The bumps changed from wash board bumps to much deeper curbs as shocks were introduced. Either way your still bottoming out.

The suspension on trophy trucks is highly advanced and really expensive. Whoops and wash board bumps mean nothing to them.

There’s a large remote reservoir coil-over and a separate large dampener to control travel at whatever speed. Really expensive tech advanced stuff. Doesn’t matter how fast your going it always works.

Sabotage. Sometimes they do to slow a certain racer down, sometimes it’s to make them crash so that snatch parts and sell them. Sometimes for photos. sometimes they are just plain stupid

Initial response is correct. Some of the hundreds of people are nefarious. For the vast majority, they realize that freedom, fear, and fun go hand in hand.

I love racings, but at the same time I hate destruction of the environment, whatever, good race

and why change tires here, with such a coating and a competition?
