But you get the whole system (Drone + camera + video monitor + external Gimbal + case) for 1000 bucks. If the flying time is around 20 minutes it will be a massive hit.

NO7HINK The important scenario of this drone is following you when you do some extreme sports. But without obstacle sensing system and vision positioning, it is not stable and not secure. If you really want small drone, I think it is better to wait for DJI mavic. It is coming soon. I believe it will have more sensors and features.

It looks like the Karma system does not include any cameras. You must purchase the GoPro cameras separately.

I think you can. As you can see in the video above (at 0:05, 2:34, 3:05, etc.), the footages aren't possible on a normal flight angle without the gimbal being rotatable. Also at 2:34 they say that you can rotate it in the Karma Grip and since the gimbal itself comes off as a unit it must be rotatable in the drone as well.

They laid off their whole arial team so no, probably not.

I just bought the DJI Phantom Advanced and I love it, but this Karma is a very neat design. I love how you get a case, a controller with bright screen, handheld gimbal and removable camera in a package that folds up. Well thought out.

RIP gopro karma, DJI Mavic is here..

Very well done, glad you guys were able to find a way to follow the purpose of GoPro and the way it all works so well. Now I just wish I had a popular KZread channel where you guys would send me one.

Glad to see that the Karma is compatible with the HERO 4 cameras. It's like having the DJI Phantom and the OSMO together. Well done GoPro!

battery life is the most important factor, where is it? can you power the remote with usb power bank?

I know this is old but I honestly love my Karma. I know they missed a few things the other guys got right BUT my camera comes off AND the Karma looks so epic.

Really nice feature with the possibility to use it as a handheld gimbal and I what I like the most is the packability! Nice job!

Karma's 3,280 feet range, 35 mph and 20 minutes of flight time are really good for a small drone. :) I've had my Phantom 3 as far as 10,200 feet out over the open ocean but I'm usually just flying around 3,000 feet in either direction along the coastline of California to get a nice view. I prefer to bring it back with at least 40% battery but more often it has 60-65% left and I'm done getting my shots of the area.

The DJI Mavic is so much smaller and easier to transport even in your pocket. You can wear a backpack and fill it with your stuff as well as your quad. Not just the quad itself.

Agreed, I was half expecting them to make it follow you, 100% hoping for it. I'm a skier, what the hell am I gonna do with this? Why blow $799 on a drone that I can use, but then I can't do my thing while using it. I could also just hire a freelance camera operator but that is kinda out of my budget :c I think it's good that GoPro are going into the drone business, but I would be much more stoked for a smaller drone that could follow me, but maybe didn't have all the fancy swing arm things etc. Just something that can film on its own. Yes GoPro are new in this segment, but damn a lot of companies like Lilly etc came into it with no big company to back them up. GoPro are worldwide, they should be able to invest in drone-follow and obstacle avoidance maybe in mk2.

Agreed. Just mentioned this to another guy: I believe it still has point-A to point-B automated movement. So technically, you could program that, then put the controller down and perform your action w/o having to control the drone... so long as you set the proper speed. So it may still be usable for some activities, granted not nearly as nice as a "follow me" feature. I also wouldn't be surprised at all if GoPro offers "follow me" mode either before launch or after launch through an update. AFAIK follow-me features don't "require" additional hardware (it can help to have a dongle you wear and it tracks you, but I don't believe it is necessary).

I'm interested in whether it has remote camera control. That was why I switched from a GoPro drone to a Phantom 4. The detachable gimbal is innovative and I expect to see more of this, but overall I see it as underwhelming.

So happy to have purchased stock in Go Pro. The Karma is hopefully going to be one of the many great things coming from Go Pro now and in the future. Can't wait to get a Karma!

Bravo goPro! Not just another me-to product and really pushing forward as the leader you are.

This looks like an amazing new product that would be quite useful for our travel destination videos! Especially excited about the hand-grip as we have been looking at one of your competitors products as walking footage is something we do allot of on our channel! Will be watching KZread demo vids to see whether it works for the type of stabilization we are looking for! Hopefully it will be available as a stand alone too?

Your brand is about scamming a lot of users with a Karma Drone that wont work for thousands of people and you take no responsibility at all to fix the issue.

No "follow me" feature was mentioned, but considering GoPro purchased a company that specialized in autonomous flight... I wouldn't be surprised if they offered it as a future software update.

For starters I love my GoPro. Each time you guys put a product out, I say to myself no way they can't top this one. And look I am blow away with all the features karma has. Keep up the great job. Please don't change always listing to consumer ideas!

The DJII Mavic is lighter; it folds up smaller; it flies faster, and farther, and longer on a single charge; features a wider range of image capture; and packs more intelligent flight modes including follow-me, obstacle-avoidance, and gesture-control. The Mavic Pro costs $749 without the controller (use your smartphone), or $999 with one. The Karma costs $799 for the drone and controller, or $1,099 bundled with the GoPro Hero 5 Black to match the Mavic’s built-in camera. The Karma is likely easier to fly for beginners though, with simpler features, and the built-in controller is handy to not have to use your phone (which can be used as a camera viewer or controller instead), and the removable gimbal to fit into the GoPro system makes it a better camera option without question. I think the bottom line may be if you're a GoPro user and think you might like a drone for some aerial footage, the Karma may be for you. But if you're looking to really get into drone footage, the Mavic, and DJII's 10 years of experience shows and makes it superior.

When you create this plus auto tracking ill buy one. Right now its very annoying because I love what you have done with this drone regarding hand held stabilization, the controller and how its mountable to the backpack but im also looking for the cool tech features the mavic pro has. Plus the size of the mavic is pretty amazing too. So if you can apply technology of the mavic and combine that with what youve already got going on and downsize the drone but keep the same price you will have an incredible product.

Everyone is saying the new dji drone is better. The image is not as crist as gopro footage from what i've seen. Plus the hand grip stabilizer functionality is pretty awesome. You also can't strap the dji drone on your chest for a shot.

I like GoPro stuff and everything but nothing beats Phantom series drones.

Most drones have a 20 min flight time. it is standard. one thing to remember. when dji or all drone companies say it has a 20 min flight time reality is you get around 16 to 18 minutes. unless you just sit and hover and keep canceling the auto return to home. the P4 said 28 minutes. which has been again proven in video reviews of getting around 23 to 24 minutes of actual use. the Inspire 1 is the worst of them all. 16 minutes real time minutes. and 12 minutes of actual time using the x5 camera. ridiculous really. However this is just where we are with batteries at this point. yes it will get better in the future. it will be a while still but thats just how it is. stop bringing up battery life of a drone in comparisons to other drones. they are all within a couple minutes from each other. this is why everyone buys multiple batteries. lets just hope the Karma batteries are cheaper then everyone else's they still need to address the shaky image quality from the karma drone footage thats been shown now in real videos uploaded by people who now have flown and tested the drone.

Right away I can tell there's still a slight fisheye effect to the video in the g opro, that's the main reason I bought an Inspire 1 & Phantom 4! This does look cool for hobbyists though, I wonder if they'll implement no fly zones in the software like DJI does.

This has everything DJI Phantom 4 lacks. Foldable simple design and detachable camera and gimbal. Hope the flight time is good and 720p video downlink.

I would buy one if it will use my existing GoPro 4. :D

I have an Inspire 1, and I can safely say nothing yet compares on the same level as the Inspire. It's only replacement will be the Inspire 2, and that won't need to happen for some time yet.

Altho GoPro abandoned their introduction to Aerial filmmaking ... I feel that the karma definitely had potential and for what I’ve seen in person it did hold is own in the drone market ... I do wish and hope that GoPro will revisit the Aerial market once more ... as of now dji is conquering the consumer drone market for affordable well built drones which can accommodate GoPros .. however they also are made strives in the action camera market ( quality in picture isn’t GoPro like yet but if they tweek it more it can surpass) I always loved GoPro and I purchased the hero8 black and the max 360 so ima have tons of fun using them! GoPro ... I do wish you guys take another shot at the drone market!

Never believe the hype on any new uav coming out. Anybody who buys a uav based on what the company says is buying hype. Wait for user reviews.

Perfect for snowboarding, canoe paddling hippies who have the time to watch what they've just done an that no-one else is interested in.............

it has no follow mode or tracking of any kind so unless you let someone fly it for you..then your never getting those shots of yourself

I believe it still has point-A to point-B automated movement. So technically, you could program that, then put the controller down and perform your action w/o having to control the drone... so long as you set the proper speed. I also wouldn't be surprised at all if GoPro offers "follow me" mode either before launch or after launch through an update. Follow-me features don't require additional hardware, it can help to have a dongle you wear and it tracks you, but I don't believe it is necessary.

Go Pro, there are two things youll have to add if you want to make Karma better than dji... First sensors to avoid any crash and second, please add flight modes (active track, follow me...)

That's actually a really good price. Some cameras cost that much money

Love it so much but can't afford it but I really do want the GoPro Hero 5 Black. All in all good job GoPro. I don't understand why people don't like the drone and cameras.👍👍👍👍

well after dji mavic, gopro karma should go half the price if it wants to stay alive.- I guess there will be packets without the handheld gimbal at MAX half price and i still dont know if thats enough

Hope it doesn't crash as often as Hero4 Silver, only took GoSlo tech support 10+ months to fix it.
