The hero 7 has the best stabilisation, but I went for the hero 5 (a few years ago) because I was able to get it second hand for such a good deal.

Thank for watching Mart. I still have the hero 5 till now. However Upgrading to hero 9 is recommended since it has incredible image stabilization

On the user market (here, in the UK, in 2021) you can get the 5 for between £90 and £140 (depending on what accessories come with it), and the 7 for between £175 and £250. The 7 is better than the 5, but the price difference could make the 5 very attractive.

hero 7 has better stabilization and frame rate. hero 5 is also decent and cheaper

Great review man, I have a better picture now. I'm still confused though. Hero 5 costs me $140 USD, where as Hero 7 is $300. Is it really worth spending the extra? I will mostly be using it for bike rides and travel vids, please advise.

Hero 5 is a bargain for $140. As I showed in the video, Hero 7 has better video stabilization while walking and running. I don't own it, it's for a friend of mine. I still own the Hero 5, I don't use it that much but I love it it's doing the job well.

I love the 7..but the 5 had much better audio...the 5 at half the cost might be better value
