What do you mean soft ? Go pro 11 has heating as bomb and cut the recording. Also battery runs out so quick. Definitely action cam 3 is winner

@@HS-sr9ww First of all, no, if you know how to use the GoPro correctly there is no overheating, and secondly, what does that have to do with the image quality of the Action 3 being much worse. Also with the new and improved GoPro Battery they run very long

I have the Hero 10 and the Action 2. I like the colors of the Hero 10 better, but I ordered the Action 3/ I bring 2 cameras when I go spearfishing. Action 3 has water resistance to 16 meters below the surface, longer battery life, and it is faster from standby to shooting. Probably it allows you to turn off the front screen, extending battery life. GoPro Hero 10 produces nice still photos, raw files that can keep lots of detail. If I go in the water 3 hours, I need 2/3 cameras. The Action 2 has some weird lens distortion on the edges, that bothers me. Overall for image quality, GoPro wins in several cases, but DJI OA3 seems to have better usability, also with the dedicated preset button. Thanks for the comparison. As you stated, you can't go wrong with either camera. The DJI allows me to take it deeper when in the ocean. I can breath hold up to 15 meters down, so it is perfect for that.

Hi Jake and Anna. Thank you for this comparison between the two cameras. As usual, very professionally done. 😉 Both of you explain very clearly the main points of comparison for these two action cameras. It will be much appreciated for sure. Anna has perfectly summed up the various considerations related to set up processing as for example. Jake is very right to specify that certain technical details are intended for professionals only. Beginners like me will focus on the functional aspect of certain options that will facilitate their choice when taking photos and videos. Concerning my humble case, I did purchase a few months ago, my first action camera, using your recommendations in some videos, a Gopro 10 with lots of accessories. To date I am satisfied for the use I make as a beginner. So I didn't use all the options to the maximum. I may purchase a Gopro 11 Mini when possible. For Gopro 11 camera I will see since to have two action cameras may be helpful in some cases, actually trying to justify the budget to purchase a new one 😉 As Anna explained in a previous video it is much better to learn and understand the basics of photography, video and editing than to accumulate technology without really using it. I think I will rather focus on this point in the near future.🙃

If you mix the GP2 chip, with new sensor and the 10-bit colors with the Action 3 magnetic mounting system, touchscreen in front screen and the new awesome battery charger, then you get the perfect camera... :P

Such a great video Jake and Anna! I always enjoy your comparison videos as they are so informative and are never biased towards one or the other. It is always great to see different 'competitors' out there for cameras and technology, I felt that the underwater flat colour profile looks way better on the Gro Pro H11 with less of the washed green tint. Same with the vibrant colour profile, especially for beginners who are just getting into understanding action camera settings when colour grading seems a little scary at the beginning 😄

That's so lovely to read Adair! We try our best to be objective! I'm leaning towards the GoPro too, in terms of colors, but I really love that the Action 3 can go 16 meters underwater without a dive case. I guess it's always a compromise! Keep learning, color grading is definitely scary at first, but it becomes easier with practice 😀 You can always shoot me a question on Instagram if it ever comes up!

Great video and content, the only thing little bit distractin is not using neutral backround and using the flickering white dots or night sky while comparing both camera pics and videos :)

It seems that GOPRO's performance is better down at the water? X3, Insta360 is it any good? I've seen some other X3 reviews, looks even more tempting. I'm really interested in seeing more comparisons, especially the diving footage. Thanks!

From a company that makes just 1 product vs a company that makes several products, it amazes me how fast DJI is catching up with GoPro and pushing them to be better. While the video quality and cool modes goes to the GoPro, the Action 3 wins massively on the usability aspect. This one is hard no doubt because if I am made to choose just one, I will probably go with the Action 3 because although the video quality is inferior, it's not like its so far behind the GoPro but the GoPro can't offer the usability of the Action 3 at all, especially the fast charging and using the app while recording just to name a few. Also the elephant in the room has got to be the GoPro reliability which isn't always 100% sadly! GoPro needs to step-up big time for the Hero 12.

Yeah, it's unfortunate how much DJI steals GoPro's intellectual designs. Also, considering DJI has about 10x the number of employees than GoPro, is not really such a surprise that they can output more products. While GoPro is a worldwide brand, with less than a thousand employees, they are no where near the size of DJI.

@@JudoSurfer it's a competitive world so everyone takes cue from everyone else. Who came up with the front facing screen I wonder? Anyways as I mentioned, GoPro win hands down on the video and shooting modes no doubt about that. Love the video quality right out of the GoPro.

Nice comparison! Just a bit of constructive criticism - the flickering background you added on some of the comparisons (like oldschool film dust and flickering) made it harder to see the actual differences between the cameras. I would have preferred a non flickering background 🙂

Pros and cons for both, but what's new there? Loved the video, certainly gives the viewer all the answers. But at the end of the day it boils down to personal choice. I am leaning towards the DJI, I am off to SE Asia so need to decide pronto.

This is the first video I see from you guys. Instant subscribe for such great content! Image seems better on the GoPro on most shots. I was hoping the DJI would have the better quality since I love their mounting solution. If I can make a suggestion: the old film-style black background you use throughout the video is very distracting when comparing footage between the 2 cameras. A solid black background would be much better. :)

Very good comparison between these new actions cameras. You can't really go wrong with either one, the Action has a lot of new conceive features, but the Hero 11 has better image quality.. Great video, and thanks for sharing.

The sound quality man I love it in dji

Such a difference in the underwater shots. The water looks green and sand looks grey with the OSMO vs blue water and whiter sand with the GoPro. Is this due to the auto sensor on the Osmo? I really prefer the GoPro images in the side by sides across the board- seem much more vibrant. However is this a trick on the eyes like with TV manufacturers who create modes to capture your attention but are unbearable to watch for any length of time without dialling them down. Which is actually more true to life would be good to know in trying to make a more informed assessment. Cheers

Amazing Video, do a new video with the DJI update.

OA3 does have a lot of features that make it much better camera than the GoPro 11, but there is now on major feature that has been identified that makes the GoPro 11 the only camera to get. That is the focus problem and IQ. The GoPro has much better dynamic range, higher resolution and much sharper video than OA3. I bought the OA3 and when you view footage on phone or small laptop looks good. But when viewed on larger computer monitor you can see just how soft the video out of it is. This problems has been all over the KZread now and DJI has admitted there is problem. They tried to fix it with software update and all that did was sharpen the video, but didn't do anything to fix it. Now video looks like soft over sharpened mess. DJI now needs to recall all of these units and fix it in the hardware.

Low light test ?

I noticed which is which because of the water splash in the intro.

hope u do another comparison when DJI releases their 10 bit enabled software that would be really interesting

4 and 12 will be the cameras we are looking for, take your time.

If you mix iPhone and action cam footage in post, you need the GoPro. DJI coloration, sharpness, etc., is just too, well, DJIish. Same issue years ago when mixing Sony and Canon clips. Very different processing resulting in subtle but obvious differences.

Why action 3 is a little bit blurry (unfocused) ? :(

When Osmo drops their 10-bit color upgrade and you shoot either cam in Flat mode.. It doesn't matter which cam you pick based on video, everything will be changed in post. The OSMO crushes the gopro in battery life and elements, so if your use case is like mine on the outside of a plane and you can't get to your cam on long flights.. My use case OSMO is much better option.

The GoPro in flat mode seems to be easier to grade and nicer than the DJI OA3. I ordered the DJI because the functionality and water resistance improvements to me mean more than marginal better image quality in some cases. I like the files I get from Hero 10, so I will bring both into the ocean when I need to. The Hero 11 does not offer a lot over the Hero 10.

Great thorough comparison guys👍The DJI has definitely improved a lot and has some cool features but i'll stay with GoPro! I feel like the video quality is better in most situations and i already own a ton of GoPro specific accessories. But i hope that GoPro comes up with more innovations for the 12 cause if they keep going at this pace, next year maybe i'll have to change to DJI 😮‍💨

both look great, go pro does look more poppy and brighter, with some grading action 3 could look brighter too, i went with the osmo because with that bundle and all the batterys and charger and the price for a poor me its a no brainer

On my budget and as not being professional, i dont have a choice, as the Action is way cheaper and still better than i need.

The limit of frame rate in 8:7 ratio tho. As a free diver who often make slow motion vdo underwater I would like to know your opinion about that

60 frames in 8:7 is enough for water motion - however If you want higher frames be more intentional with your output. Frame up in vertical (for Instagram reels) and choose 120FPS or 100fps and you’ll nail the shot, or frame in horizontal and shoot 4K 100fps and crop in on your edit (if needing both aspects) - there’s more than enough options to work with especially in comparison to other under water cameras

So having made this video, and then another that suggested that the insta 360 X3 is a magnificent beast of a thing, would you say the X3 is now the undoubted winner? (I'm asking as someone that chose the DJI Action 3 over the Go Pro 11, and then bought the X3 once I saw the videos of what it could do.)

I would say that with the X3 and the action 3 you are well equipped to make EPIC videos :)

GoPro 11: colors, dynamic range Action 3: insane battery, zero overheating, way better mobile app, zero software lags, vertical mounting, cheaper no brainer IMO my GoPro 10 is overheating reliably even on cooled rooms like gyms or air conditioned living room after 30-40 minutes. every time. More GoPro negatives: it restricts your resolutions and frame rates arbitrarily. let’s say you don’t need 4k but you want to be able to crop in a little bit here and there. 2.7k would be amazing, but can’t record in 25-30fps. you also cannot transfer data out of the GoPro while the MediaMod cage is attached since they software-disabled the USB data port lol. GoPro has a bunch of very mediocre to bad developers that can’t, for years, figure out their main problems. and every KZread cideos has to a of people like bashing the camera for lots of reasons. I’ll gladly take worse image quality (which is still very good) and reduced HDR ability it that means the camera ACTUALLY WORKS.

If you consider the video quality as a first value, you should choose the gopro 11. No doubt about it.

Action 3 overheats i have tested it

I see this comparence everywhere in Videos lately. I find it funny because at least where I life the new go pro cost a few hundred more, than the DJI 3 so how to actually compare them? I pay more, I "get more" is sort of logical.

The best thing about a camera it’s video results, which it’s the GoPro 11. Other things are cool such as magnetic mount like the dji, not nothing better then video results, so GoPro takes it

Sorry to jump on post, As a complete newbie to filming with my go pro, I hired somebody on Fiverr to edit and colour grade it. I think the edit looks basic, sure the Quik app as done better it’s self and the video he has done doesn’t go with the timing of the music, Absolutely Gutted 😢 Only sent him the footage at 21:20 last night and got it back at 11:50 this morning. How do I get other people to see it to give me their honest, experienced opinions? Thank you 👍

10 bit or no 10 bit. The 5.3K makes all of the difference with detail and dynamic range

Easy the blurry one is osmo 3 lol.
