A large portion (or maybe all) of these rockets use a device called a Walston transmitter (named after the guy that invented/makes them) which is a sort of radio transmitter. Kind of like a GPS, but it essentially allows you to use an antenna (Almost always a Yagi) to tell you whether or not you are pointing at the rocket, which helps you retrieve it quickly. A lot of the teams use these in combination with GPS to locate the rocket during/after flight, as sometimes the rocket can end up in a situation where one of the devices is unreliable or damaged. The Walstons are generally really beefy though.

I was sorry to see that part of the rocket blew out near the bottom close to where the rocket engines were & caused it to not work in the way that everyone was hoping that it would work. I'd also like to say that I was very impressed with the Video that was taken with the GoPro Cameras that were mounted to the sides of the rockets! I never ever thought about the idea that you could put a GoPro Camera onto a rocket! I just hope that having the GoPro Camera on the rocket didn't cause any kind of stability issues & that the rockets with the GoPro Cameras on them were balanced equally so that they would fly as straight as possible & the GoPro Cameras hopefully wouldn't have affected the weight & the altitude of the rockets all that much. I also hope that the people that were involved in this project knew how much heat that the rockets put out & that the GoPro Cameras that were on the ground that were very close to the rockets had some kind of protective shield between them & the rockets like a ballistic shield just like the Mythbusters used for their experiments! I look forward to watching more great Videos from GoPro! Maybe I might Upload some of my Videos that I've taken with my GoPro Cameras! They are older Models, but I still enjoy using them to take Videos of some of the greatest Experiences that I've ever had in my Life!

Areatrance Yet you can calculate how far the moon is away if you have two people, and you can also calculate the distance of the international space station with two people as well, and this goes against flat earthers who say the ISS is fake, or that the moon is actually super close

Areatrance you flatties give me the best laugh. Let me educate you. First, Magellan proved it was round 500 years ago. 500 years later we have people like you claiming you are "woke" lol. If it was flat you could see Everest from your house with a good telescope or Hawaii from the west coast with a lesser telescope. Once a ship sails over the horizon not even the best telescope in the world can make it reappear FACT..even when it's only 70 miles away. That alone proves you are wrong. But let me take it farther. If you are standing on Ninini point on Kauai the next island which is Oahu is only about 70 miles away. Not even the best telescope in the world can make Oahu appear even with a huge mountain on it. Thats a fact. We have had people travel AROUND the earth in boats, balloons, and planes. Don't you think someone would have hit the dome by now? East/west for balloons, both east/west and north/south for planes and powered boats. Hmmmm....wonder why only east west for balloons and non powered boats? Lol I'll let you try to learn that lesson on your own..hint..it has to do with the axis of the earth. Let's continue. Curvature can be seen at 37k. EVERY pilot in the world that has been that high knows that's a fact. There are thousands and thousands. My personal plane can go that high. Retired Army aviator AND commercial pilot of 19 years on top of that. We have had 3 people skydive from 130k feet with video. One of which I know personally as a fellow skydiver. Clearly round. Eclipses prove it's round. Every other planet in our solar system is round. But we are flat right? Lol. We have rednecks shooting Coors light beer cans to 130k with video. Fyi... You can look up the location of the ISS anytime online and go outside on a clear night and see the ISS with your own eyes no telescope needed as it orbits overhead AROUND the earth. Along with other satellites. You can see DETAILED images from the moon orbiter of everything we left on the moon...flags, rover tracks, equipment, etc. Chris Hadfield is a family friend. He did in fact record his part of space oddity up there. Now we have spacex launching rockets all the time with THOUSANDS of eye witnesses. You can buy front row tickets and feel the heat of the rockets. While simultaneously watching video from space as the boosters come back in and land in front of your eyes. YES...there are things up there they don't want us to see. That is true. Video cuts etc. Full disclosure is coming soon trust me. 911 WAS an inside job and no planes were used on the towers. That's a fact. If you have the cash you can go take a ride in a Russian mig to 40k feet, loop over and see the round earth. GOD is gonna laugh with you when he shows you the world is round. Lucky for you he will love you just the same as us who know it's round and space is real. You have ZERO facts against my FACTS I presented here. You have nothing. Don't even try. The waters above the firmament very simply means water (oceans) above the bedrock (firmament). GOD himself will tell you and show you it's round...and you will still argue it's flat lol

  • @dustinkoehler3873

Hakan AYDIN hiding the fact that the 30k ft rockets were part of the competition and did not want to let GoPro put cameras on the outside of the rocket. This would have reduced their aero performance and cost them altitudes. The 2 rockets shown with on-board cameras were rockets launching just to have fun, neither cared about making competitive altitudes. The green rocket showed reached about 8k if memory serves. If you look up the Experimental Sounding Rocket Association (ESRA) website and KZread, you should find on-board camera footage. Oregon State University had one on their 30k.
