I liked the detail in the movie where Stine and Slappy have the same voice. That's how ventriloquism works, but it also has a deeper sense to it because Slappy is just Stine's darker half projected into his writing... that has come to life. Ever read The Dark Half by Stephen King. It's the same idea.
