How many zillions of tax money is going to G4S if just this one jobcentre has THREE security guards and a Manager on duty at once. The mind effing boggles. @@esecallum yeah but the G4S bill to the government will be much more - 20% for on-costs such as employers NI contributions, plus a meaty profit for G4S. So maybe £300,000? And that doesn't allow for further guards to cover shifts, leave, sickness etc. I'd imagine there's at least 2 more not seen which means we might be approaching half a million for a needless contract for a single job centre. How many job centres are there? 500? 1000?

I worked for G4S as a prison officer in what was initially a Cat A (later Cat B) prison. We had 2 officers to 95 prisoners on a wing which is 75% less staff compared to a state prison. We were paid a third less and often understaffed. I have come on duty at 07.00 and been ordered to unlock 95 prisoners on my own and supervise breakfast single handed. When I refused I was threatened with disciplinary action. On another occasion I refused to leave my post in the servery to supervise medication issue on the next floor. G4S and HMP rules require the servery to be manned throughout meal times to avoid food theft. The deputy governor went nose to nose with me and told me to ignore the rules. I requested that in writing, he swore and stormed off. G4S are a cynical and exploitive company who pay the staff buttons but pay the senior management fantastic salaries.

@@tommullen2958 to make it easy for you www.gov.uk/guidance/ learn about the SIA licence conditions you must follow. It doesn't say in that paragraph it is an offence but it states there are 'conditions imposing as to the production and display of the licence'. The condition being as set out in guidance it shall be displayed at all times. There are however times when it doesn't have to be displayed such as a store detective. And the security guards don't have to actually give up their name it would be enough for the staff to flash it. But then if say like the doorman who got his licence withdrawn for not displaying it who was prosecuted by the SIA fined £250 and given a 6 month discharge £250 costs. The badge is merely an identifier that the holder can act in particular ways. He was charged under section 9 1 c.

@@tommullen2958 so yes he may be stretching it a bit...in this situation. But their obviously not that clued up and misinterprete the conditions imposed on them. Warren Steele was a person prosecuted. And his confusion probably comes from the fact that Door men also have a SIA licence which allows them to be say a G4S employee but a G4S employee license isn't a Door man licence. There 2 distinct things.

The following conversation with her was very interesting, she found herself listening to what you were saying and gradually calmed down, became almost sensible. The whimpering bit at thirteen minutes when he said that he asked you politely was quite funny!, I wonder what he sound like when he is being rude!. Cheers, Richard.
