Google Tag Manager Convesion Linker - Cross-Domain Tracking for Google Ads

A quick look into how Convesion Linker tag works in Google Tag Manager, when implementing cross-domain tracking for Google Analytics conversions. Basically, the Conversion Linker will save the GCLID (Google Click ID - a unique identifier for the specific ad click, which most likely includes info about the ad, ad campaign, time it was clicked on etc) as a first-party cookie. But with cross-domain tracking in Google Tag Manager for conversion linker, you can make sure your Google Ads conversion tracking works if your funnel is spread across multiple domains. If your actual final conversion happens at another domain than where visitors first land when they click on your Google Ad, this should make it work.

Does this cross-domain conversion linker tag set up require the same GTM container installed on both sites?

Or is it enough to have the same setup for the Conversion Linker tag on both sites?
