I've looked through so many instructions and this one is the easiest I've found by far. And I need it easy because I want my students to create escape rooms for each other. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for going through this! You're so brilliant! We've been looking for a free version of an escape room for our Youth Activity in the church but we have found none, so this is very helpful for us. Thank you again! :)
I've been making real escape rooms in my middle school library for years based on my teachers' curricula. What to do during Covid? You Nailed It! Many Mahalos from Maui

I'm so glad! A recent tip I've learned is if you add "?rm=minimal" (no quotes) after the word preview in the link, it also removes the black navigation bar at the bottom of the screen as well!
Thank you SO MUCH! I watched, paused, replayed, pulled in my principal to help, watched again. And I think I am ready for my first trial run with this today.

This is amazing! Thank you for the clear explanations. One thing I am struggling with...I want to have them solve multiple other clues in the room that don't necessarily connect with the answer to escape. Is there a way to ensure they have solved all the other clues in the room before they are able to click the lock and escape?
AWESOME 👏

Hi! Thank you for this tutorial -- it was super helpful. I also watched your escape room hack video. I had a question about the last question you had on the lock in GoogleForms: the question is worded that students should select one of the multiple choice times to see how their time compares with others. How did you do that so students could see their time in relation to others? Thank you in advance!
thanks this helped me so much in my class

Back again having made my room!! Yay!! I tried setting it on google classroom but the timer doesn't reset for each attempt - do you know how to make sure it restarts every time the link is clicked? Thank you again!
@TechieSpaghetti

this seems to be a bit related to browser settings - however, when you add the KZread video to the Google Slides, there is a setting where you can choose to have it auto-play when the slide show is launched, so I would try that first.
Awesome thanks!

Thank you for your wonderful video! I have a question: when you give the students the link to start the escape room, they can move from one slide to another using the arrows at the bottom of the presentation. How can this be avoided? Thanks in advance.
@TechieSpaghetti
3 жыл бұрын
This is a great question, and I have other videos that go into more detailed explanation. The short answer is that I generally recommend using only a 1-slide Slideshow and housing all your clues or information in Google Sites to avoid the problem entirely. But there are also a lot of "hacks" I do within the escape rooms I sell, on Teachers Pay Teachers for example, that mitigate this issue. This video explains some of these hacks: kzread.info/dash/bejne/o5ObyLh6dLTbo7w.html. Good luck!
tHANK YOU NOW MY STUDENTS WILL BE SO HAPPY
Thanks a lot! It's very motivating and encouraging. But still, I need more instructions and a bit slower pace to acquire the skills. I will try my best to implement all this.

LOL, I definitely talk fast and this was a fast overview for sure. I have a few links in the description to more specific tutorials that might be helpful, but let me know if there are any specific skills you'd like to see in more detail.
This is great! I have been trying to create one myself for my team at work. I'm just not sure how to link the clues so that they can go back to answer the questions. When I press present they can go to the clues but they are unable to get back to the room or back to the room from answering the questions. Would you be able to point me in the right direction?
@TechieSpaghetti

I'm glad it's been helpful! The way I have it set up, the clues open in a new window, so students just have to close the tab to return to the presentation. (And I try to write that on the documents so they get the idea.) Hope that helps!
Not a teacher, but I want to be when I get older. I still want to try this. It’s pretty cool!

Absolutely! As long as you are sharing a "preview" link of the slideshow with them, you can have everyone working on the same escape room at once!
Thank you so much!!!!

when you click to one of the clue and it open a new tab browser, then how you get back to the room ? just switch browser tab ? or you make some button that can go back to the main room ?
Thank you for this awesome tutorial! I have made the whole thing but I'm having a problem in that my timer video is not resetting each time. It picks up where the last time was. Suggestions on how to fix it?
@TechieSpaghetti
4 жыл бұрын
I'm glad you like it! You can go into the settings for the timer video and select whether or not you want it to play automatically. Toggling that on or off may help you out -- if you turn it off, them you may have to tell participants to start the timer before they begin. Hope this helps!
HI thank you for the informative video. Could I check if it is possible for me to do this on mobile devices as well. As when i do it, it prompts me to go back the the gslides app itself, which shows the editable mode instead. Is there anyway for me to play the game on google chrome without being prompt to use an email to enter the app?
Thank you so muuuuuuuuuuch 🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍
Hello and thank you for sharing! I'm working on one and am stuck at the Present stage - when I set it up for present, the students then cannot click on a clue or open the form (attached via link to the door) - it goes to the next slide or stays on the first slide - help? What am I missing?
@TechieSpaghetti
4 жыл бұрын
I've only been able to get these rooms to work when they are "one-slide" presentations. Meaning, that if you have multiple slides in your presentation, it won't work as well. (and it won't work if your students are on mobile devices, which it sounds like they might be)
Thank you so much for this amazing tutorial! I made one as we are starting with the hybrid model this week, and I know the students are going to need something fun to do by the end of the week. Thank you for being so specific and clear with the steps. It was so easy to follow. I have two questions: Do I need to make a copy of the slide for each student? Or can they all share the same link? How do I link the Google Form so that it is not editable to the students? I am really struggling with this. Everytime I copy the send link and try it out the pen comes up to edit it? Could you possible show the share settings you use for the slide and attached links
@TechieSpaghetti
3 жыл бұрын
Hi! I'm so glad it was helpful! Google sharing settings get a bit tricky to describe in a comment, but basically, as long as you share your slideshow with preview or "view only" settings, you won't need to make a different copy for each student. For the form, you need to do the "Send" button (and then click the link icon), instead of trying to do a "Share" option. When you do Send on a google form, it is an un-editable copy for people to fill out. If you look in the description of this video, I have links to some downloadable samples that might help clear things up. Good luck!
Thank you
