    ‼EXTREMELY IMPORTANT ‼ A word of caution there are some tiny pins on the inside of the Pixel 7 Pro making contact with the screen when closed. Make sure you look carefully at all those and none is sticking close to 90 degree because if one is positioned that way it will puncture the screen and damage it (you'll need a new screen again). A very stupid design that can cost a new screen while trying to replace a broken screen. Be one of the only few who support and find value in my videos. Please spare some change to help the channel keep moving forward. www.buymeacoffee.com/ersbit

    I just replaced my screen double-checked that all pins were flat, then when i "clicked" the screen into place, it didn't wanna completely go inside of the frame, i pushed some more and now i have a line across my screen........ Sucks but atleast i can use it now. We'll see how long unitil the screen is completely unusable again. Sidenote: I bought a "original AMOLED" screen of Aliexpress and i notice a difference, especially with frame rate, feels more like a 45 Hz then 120Hz, but then again it cost around 65USD.

    @@ersbit Yup, found that out the hard way. First time I tried to get it repaired in a special shop, when they closed the phone, you could see a white vertical line on the right side of the screen. Next time, I tried replacing it myself. I was very careful with those pins and when I closed the screen everything was functioning fine, except 3 days later the same white vertical line of dead pixels appeared. Now, I have another screen waiting for me to replace it but I'm just tired and kinda got used to that damn white line of death. Don't even know if it is due to those metal pins or perhaps the problem with the connector or port on the phone itself.

  • @ersbit

    @ersbit

    sorry to hear all these. The pins are the issue you should look on the back of the screen when it is off and find the stop that has been punctured and push it down. I don't think it is the connector. This is a problem I have seen online for the pixel 7 pro it is not isolated and before the screen would be good when testing before closing the device. @@MegaLUX13

    @ersbit I notice that on the original screen there is a piece of plastic for the front facing camera, but the replacement screen in your video does not have it. Why did you choose not to move that plastic part from the old screen to the new one?

  • @ersbit

    @ersbit

    5 ай бұрын

    I should have transferred that piece of plastic (that's good practice). I did not do it because from my experience with the Pixel 7 Pro it did not change anything after I did the screen replacement without it. (It would be better to have it in place as it should help stabilize the front Camera if the camera shakes or move). Screen closed most likely it would never shake or move unless you record a video while running. So you should have it in place on your phone screen. Just use a small amount of b7000 to have it in place then install the new screen or just place.

    Don't just yank the screen out like that. There are pins in that connector on the logic board you can easily damage. Use a tool to carefully disconnect and be careful reconnecting not to mash the pins.

    I used a heat gun. Like thirty seconds is enough. 😂 Make sure you completely remove the plastic frame. My screen was destroyed and the thin plastic frame was still stuck on the phone. The metal frame around the phone is silver and should be visible. I used the official repair kit with the adhesive ribbon and that was a pain. I ran it again with the heat gun to melt it back down again just in case.

    Hi, that would not be hard. You just install the double sided tape if it was provided then install the screen. Remove the plastic film on top of the double-sided tape then close the phone. I believe on my pixel 6 pro screen replacement I used b7000 glue to seal the phone.

    Hi, really enjoyed watching your video. I wish the guy who replaced my screen have watched it before working on my phone. Now the fingerprint recognition feature has mysteriously disappeared. I have thoroughly searched my device's settings, but there is no trace of the fingerprint option. I even attempted to use Google's online fingerprint calibration tool, which appeared to work as expected; however, the fingerprint option is still gone. If you have any wisdom to share, please do.

    The only thing that would do this is a bad fingerprint sensor. Most likely got some kind of damage during the removal / installation.... Example. On my previous pixel 6 pro without the sensor connected the setting disappeared. As soon as the sensor was back in working condition it reappeared.

    It's better to have the black frame. As removing and reattach the old one will be hard and not 100% sure you will succeed and even if successful it can start to detach from the screen. I would advice getting the screen with the frame pre-installed.

    Great guide. I've replaced the screen on my Pixel 7 Pro using iFixit parts, but the screen doesn't work as expected. When charging after the screen is reconnected, it shows the GOOGLE logo perfectly for ~5 seconds, then flashes green stripes for ~100 msec, then goes black, then a few seconds later shows the GOOGLE logo again. It gets stuck in this "boot" loop. This happens for at least 15 minutes or more. After an hour of charging, the screen stays black and no longer goes through a boot loop. The device appears with `adb devices` but is shown as 'unauthorized'. The screen is completely black. Any ideas on this? I've seen one other person (on iFixit) stuck in this "boot loop" after replacing the screen, but there was no resolution to the problem.

    Hi, the only thing that I came close to this was when I tried to turn on a Pixel 6pro screen on a Pixel 7pro. The Google logo would appear then stay black forever. When I put the original 7pro screen back on everything works no problem. First thing I would do it put your old screen back to make sure that one is working fine no problem. If old screen does not work as well as before there must be something that happened between removing the old and installing the new screen. Check the screen flex cable connector on the board to make sure it's good it doesn't look damaged etc... If your old screen works fine after réinstallation just return the ifixit screen and have them send another one and tell them to make sure it works before sending it. (Ifixit is supposed to have original screens from Google so there should not be any compatibility issues unless the screen is defective). Keep us posted on the progress 👍🏽

    @@ersbit You're 100% correct. They sent me a Pixel 6 Pro screen. After looking under a microscope for 30 minutes, we noticed the 4 copper pins on the screen didn't line up with slots on the body of the phone. There are only 2 copper pins on the original 7 screen. (The original screen was trashed by gracefully smashing into the sidewalk, so is 100% non-functioning). After noticing the pins, I just compared them side by side, and it's clear they're different screens. There is a small opening on the top that exposes what I'm assuming is an ALS. On the 7 Pro that slot is horizontal. On the 6 Pro it's vertical. They were so similar, and the initial bootup shows the Google Logo, so I had just figured it was a different rev of the screen. But you're spot on. It's a 6 Pro screen connected to the 7 Pro body. Thanks for the reply!

It should work without issues unless they have made a software thing to make sure for you do use the security, face recognition or passcode password you need to set up fingerprint first. I was even kind enough to relay the information and pin it at the top for other to be aware of it. How is it my fault? Please go watch other videos and let me know if they are talking about this problem.

    How is that my fault....I have notice it other have notice it ? The camera plastic yes I forgot to have it there. That would not be a big problem for your front camera in case you forget to have it installed. As far as the pins I did not design the phone. I took my time to show the how I would do it that's all. My video is not perfect I don't get paid to do videos and I pay everything myself. I don't have more than 24 hrs in a day to do everything and redo all video someone said something. The comment box is the only part I can tell viewers then if they did not look at the box. They cannot blame me because I did not design the phone, not they bought the screen from me or I certified that they should not do other research before performing screen repair on their phone.
