    Remember the good ol days when when you dropped a phone, you could put it all back together like LEGOs. Now you have to risk loosing functionality of the phone. How have we gone backwards

    True lol today they are making it difficult for things that does not require that much. It is still IP68 same as the S23 or S23 ultra which is super easy to remove the back and replace by a ratio to 1 to 10.

    Alcohol is usually safe on OLEDs. I soak the fingerprint sensor area on new pixel screens and remove the fingerprint scanner and then transfer the one from the old screen to the new one and I never had any issue with alcohol damaging an OLED panel.

    Your experience was fortunate. Mine it damaged the screen. I attribute my misfortune to maybe too much alcohol 🤷🏽‍♂️. The screen never worked after this I had to buy another one after the back was replaced.

    It's hard, but after you watch this video you should have all the necessary knowledge to accomplish it. Set aside 1 hour from start to finish to do everything safely. With experience the time can be cut down by half.

    Watching this I'm thinking, is it dangerous to keep the back like this? Will it damage the phone? Is it only a stethical issue?

    It's only aesthic. If the back is broken and you don't want to change it put a case or a skin on it and nobody will know lol. If your wireless charging is damaged or nfc not working will need to change to back and Check if the connection was not cut by the Crack on the back.

    It baffles me *why* google thought a glass rear was a good idea. Isn't part of the reason we use plastic or metallic rears like Samsung or Apple to, y'know, avoid issues like this from happening in the first place?

    Hahaha these guys have a new dogma (everything glass makes any phone premium 😅) Pixel 8 Pro Back Glass is another level of pure overengineering. They have been doing this stuff since the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro.

    @MrBritishblue thank you. I did a second video with another pixel 7 Pro just to prove that it can be done 🤣. My ego was touched....Google makes everything near impossible to fix in DIY. At least now I am.happy there's at least 1 video showing the whole process even if it is still extremely hard lol

    Is the removal the same for the pixel 7 and if so where can I get a replacement glass for a 7? Thanks!

    I would assume it is the same exact thing. The 6 and 6 Pro had the same design (did videos on those too failed to save the wireless stuff). You can try amazon or eBay. The link I have in the description are from Amazon (mostly).

    This is the update video I successfully implementated what I was saying in the end of this video. Everything worked well ( it's just a little involving as always with Google Pixel and Pro model) kzread.info/dash/bejne/omuIw5OwY6zNerA.html

    After replacing the glass is it still water resistant?

  • @ersbit

    @ersbit

    I think it should be able to sustain at least 10 minutes submerged. The back design is well designed in a way to minimize water intrusion even if you install the back glass without adding B7000. With B7000 it should be solid and at least IP67.

    The back glass is cheap about 20$ or less. The repair cost can go up to $300 in some shops.
