You can do casual gaming , like for 30 minutes to an hour . Then you need a break to avoid heating.

If you're not in a hurry, the Pixel 8a is launching soon and will be a better value for money overall for the long term usage and longer software support. Otherwise the Pixel 7a is not a bad choice and lots of issues are resolved, but it's too pricey without offers currently.

Sure, Restart your phone, First update if not done already, also update Google play system updates and update all your apps. You can check if any app is creating any issue , identify and uninstall that app, also try to run the diagnosis in battery Settings. See if any of these resolve your issue else let me know.

You can go ahead with Android 14 , it is stable , with good battery and performance. I have been using it for the last 7 months.

You can wait for the launch of the Pixel 8a next month, It has a bigger battery and the price will be close to the Pixel 7.Also Pixel 8a will support software updates for the next 7 years.

I purchased my pixel 7 refurbished from Amazon for about $270. I've had some battery issues over 5g (I think the latest update might have fixed it, but I haven't been back to work since the update where 5G is my primary internet). I have had no heating issues
