what tool is the metal spudger. i used an ifixit metal shim and scratched the frame a bit. incase anyone else did the same. i ended up getting the exremely fine tip sharpie and running it along the entire frame, all scratched are covered up and nothing stands out to the eye since i did the entire frame. when its in a case you couldnt tell anyways, but now its hidden even better.

You can get a supporting frame adhesive for replace. But just be clear that phone will not be water resistant after repaired. I forgot to ask you, you use the plastic strip adhesive over the T 7000 adhesive or does it really even matter? Adhesive helps with the IP67 waterproofing I'm sure

Dontbeweakvato I used the tape rather than liquid adhesive mainly due to habit but i haven't used the glue to really trust it, I would still be worried that it would run down on to a speaker or a microphone and kill it that way I left my customers know that I wouldn't be trusting it in water after the repair
What pad are you using to melt the adhesive?

Ayodeji Shoola I would expect it to be fine in rain but if the phone went underwater, I wouldn't expect it to live
Isn't the display a pOLED and not an LCD like your say in this video?

My mistake it's a AMOLED I am in the habit of calling almost all displays LCD

i used 2mm in this video. but thats just cause i had it on hand. In regards to the tape, i would go to the full 1pc tape, purely for the fact it will cover all areas on the frame and make a good bond, but would be more of a challenge to apply the double sided tape would be easier to apply but harder to make dust/water resistant again
Is it hard to replace the glass that covers the oled panel?

Peter Arthur Henk you have to buy the display which is glass and the digitizer. The digitizer looks like thin gold foil attached to very thin glass. The digitizer/glass is probably like $200. They are together and one piece
Thanks man! Managed to replace screen on my Pixel 2 XL after watching this. Works a treat. Replacement screen not cheap, though! For those in UK/Europe, I got the part from www.replacebase.co.uk/ and seems just as good as the original.

I got both the display and adhesive from replacebase.co.uk. Adhesive was "Universal 3M 2mm x 50 Meter double sided bonding adhesive for phones, tablets and electronics" - product code RBSKU2500.
Is your heatpad set to 60C or 60F?

I could feel my anxiety rising as you were trying to fit those little clips back in! What is the purpose of applying the thin tape if you only remove it after?

Double-sided tape, taking the backing off it to expose the adhesive.

I Purchased mine from Aliexpress, but same product. The size of it is quite good, you can fit a 13" laptop screen on there (very slight overhang) or a couple of phones side by side

to keep the screen stuck down, without it the screen would lift from the phone and damage the flex connector

I removed the protective plastic but needed to put down new double sided tape to make the screen stick

Ricks Tech OK so when I install the adhesive strips I just leave them where they are and then install the screen

Some screens might already have adhesive on them If they do just remove the plastic off the screen that covers it If your replacement screen doesn't have any adhesive, then you need to install some on the phone then out down the screen on it

The Part Costs anywhere Between $180-300+ AUD This one was charged out at $300 AUD for Parts and Labour
