Yes, this is a BIG problem with Google in the EU. Paying for Workspace Business Plus, which is EUR 20,70 (ex. taxes) on a per month basis. Another EUR 19,20 (ex. taxes) per month for the Gemini Business add-on. But we are still waiting for the release of features that were introduced earlier this year, with the promise: ‘available soon’. No Gemini in the Google Search app on iOS and still no ‘extensions’ in Gemini from Workspace. Also no access to new apps like NotebookLM, not even on personal Gmail (as the app is in Beta). So it’s very nice to see where Google is heading with Gemini… but it seems to be a long long way to other continents. I would love to stay on Workspace, but the competition is moving faster… and so is mine.

This change was made, because EU sees Google as a gatekeeper and required it to add other map products in their search. Google just decided to remove google maps from search, so that competition does not get any visits. And now they are blaming the EU, that they had to remove maps from search...

Yeah totally agree, feels like they're doing everything all the other AI companies are doing but worse. I think if they focused more on the things OpenAI and others overlook - tight integration with existing services, smaller AI functions that are genuinely useful - they would succeed immediately.

Meanwhile.. OpenAI's announcement of GPT-4omni showcases real, simple and practical use cases of an all purpose AI. All these I/O presentations are just "shinny-all-talk-no-groundbreaking-demo" stuff and underwhelming imho. We'll see if Google can still do a comeback and do real competition, best of luck!

Pretty much every developer confrence this year. The only thing remotely exciting was the open ai demonstrations on gpt4o. Google look like they've no sense of direction and have Just put too much on their plate with all of this

05.22.24 I was viewing the over the one hour video conference and saw this 10-minute summary. I'm no tech person at all; however, I am a huge Google fan and what's fascinating is the continuing advances in AI and how the tech experts are using this technology. I know AI is not new but how its technology is being presented to the masses is mind blowing. Thank you Google. Kudos to #SundarPachai for leading the bests of the best in Google - hats off to you!

My takeaway is goog is doing a lot, and naming things a lot - and in the end I am so confused!

Agreed. Still no clue how this will affect my SEO. Their model already sucks. For my business all the sites that show up in the first page aren’t any better than mine and I’ve been in business longer. Some of the sites are down right awful like a 3rd grader did them. I hate google and they have a monopoly on the damn market.

Pixel 8a was announced a few days before Google I/O. Google I/O has never been a hardware announcement event. It's always been software and services. Events for hardware usually happen in October. Around "Fall" at the end of the year.

What about an update for google pixel support in the Philippines, when?
