If the 3/8ths cents tax extension doesn’t pass the Chiefs should put up a proposal in august for a 1/4th cents tax that would whole go to the Chiefs and let the Royals figure out their own funding. If they want to move downtown I say the people of KCMO should pay the take only since downtown KC will get them vast majority of benefit if not all. Why should all of Jackson county pay for only a small portion of the county to benefit???

1❤️💛% This, yes. If managent wants to move so badly, management can pay. It's called pork barrel spending, shoehorning one thing that few want into another vote that most folks support. And it's BS. Separate teams, separate stadiums, SEPARATE VOTES.

This way of thinking is why KC is so behind other cities in the first place. The metro area should think regional, but every suburban area is out for their own interests. Someday KC will figure out that a strong downtown means strong suburbs.

@@kc2dc444 No. The yuppies go downtown and spend the money there and live there and don't give a d@mn about us in the BURBS. They have white guilt over the suburbs founding in the late 40's and 50's and the "White flight racism" narrative so they don't want strong suburbs. All "downtown redevelopment" or "downtown revitalization" does is make it too expensive for the people, often black, who live there to continue to live there and then they are replaced by more well to do, often white, people. OH it is sold as a way to help the black people who live there but in the end it is just a way of getting them out without using any force. Downtown/urban areas can be helped without the MASSIVE programs leading to massing increasing in Cost Of Living. Simple things would go a long way. But no Politician want to attach his moniker to a simple project. KC shouldn't be NYC, Chicago, LA or any of those other massive H*llH**e$. KC is Midwest and should FEEL Midwest! The metro area cares about the metro area but taxes, any tax, require a cost benefit analysis before passing so you see if passing the tax is worth it. And the cost metro wide is there but the benefit is limited to a small segment. Now if the royals can point out how the how metro benefits we'll listen but all the ads I'VE seen only talk about the Chiefs and keeping them here. the royals aren't even TRYING, it seems, to make an effort to show the whole metro would benefit. The pitch is "you like the chiefs right?? So do I so I a voting to extend the sales tax for the Chiefs/Royals because I want the Chiefs to stay." not a good sales pitch for a tax that is being split between 2 teams.

I’ve been atop the liberty memorial in the 90’s . Nice view. That Kauffman center for that arts with the opera house and theater is just ugly. I’m sure the inside is good but outside is ugly. And oh those “art pieces” on top on Bartle Hall. They’re even uglier. And the city actually paid money for them.
