Yeah, Boreas house is notoriously have bestiality fetish, even Eris included. When you think about that you'll understand the extent of Hilda's attempt to make Phillip choose her out of tens of his beautiful beast-folk maid, and why she passed down that knowledge to Eris.

I’m going to say two things. First, we need to not explain things, they will be explained next week. This is a two parter like the family reunion. What I can explain, is that was the first time Rudeus cried. He didn’t cry when he was born. He almost cried when he reunited with Paul. He didn’t cry when he was almost killed. He cries when he felt rejected and abandoned.

Rudeus is going to have to process this for sure , he might not even realize himself but he was deeply in love with Eris at this point time, he was really trying to put her fillings before his own. Eris was also very in love with Rudeus so it will be good to understand the reason why she left. Overall the story will have a big turn after this episode and am here and waiting for it

so that initial scene was anime-original, but MAN was it harsh and brilliant. timeline-wise it's been about a month between the incident with Orsted and their arrival at Fittoa they did leave out a considerable chunk about the political situation in the Fittoa Region and Asura as a whole, but all things considered, it is not that important aside from dropping a few names that might become relevant a few seasons down the line and doesn't have much impact right now. aside from that, it is very faithful, and very harrowing episode, gods be damned And just as a final nail: This is the FIRST TIME Rudy has ever cried in this life. he never cried as a baby, and not even during the incident with Paul or when he almost f'ing DIED last episode. let THAT sink in. Next week is the finale, the first cour had 11 episode, this second cour has 12.

He have nightmares about everyone dying multiple times on the lightnovel. I don't know about the manga, tho. On that point of time he may not have had one, but he would have them in some other point of the story,.anyway. So not really original.

I think we will get Eris POV next episode, as for Eris and Rudeus intimate moment. I really think Studio Bind did this scene justice, it didn't feel perverted or sexualized, it was in a sense natural and at the same time bittersweet.

I fell love in anime feels more real than if you compare it to love in U.S. shows or movies. Unlike anime, the loved scenes feel very fake. Anime always gives you the true feeling of characters in love. If that makes any sense.

I agree. While I was (weirdly) expecting a full on sex scene, I was pleasantly surprised that they played it pretty neutral. Implying and confirming that sex happened, without balantly showing it. I appreciate that.

Oh yeah, hadnt considered that Eris at this point of time is considered an adult in this world, while Rudeus is not, reminds me that in the future Eris kind of thinks that she took advantage of Rudeus at this point in time since she is the one who "seduced" technically a minor, doesnt help that Rudeus received a huge amount of mental damage from all of this.

Eris didn't do that with Rudy because she was "vulnerable", the anime will explain that either next episode or way later but keep this info in mind: Eris did that and set on a journey for something that was kinda hinted in the past episode and in this one.

Interesting information: I like how they do the opening songs according to the locations and when our grp (dead end) reached their home (rudeus's home and eris's home), the song changed to the first opening song that we had when the were in this location(ep 1-8).

Glad you weren't tweaking like a few channels. Also 15 in this world is an adult(they're trying to sell her off as a concubine right now and you know no creepy old lord would do that if sex wasn't on the table) but he was physically too young according to this world. Sucks she left(and that was the worst note in the history of Anime) but what happened and the result of that is going to be a big focal point over next season and the next arc. So sad Eris AND Ruijerd are gone :(, Ruijerd crying was crazy, I never thought I'd see him cry ever, that really got me. So glad such a great guy is going to heal his reputation and is actually breaking the curse. If anyone deserves a good life, it's Ruijerd. Yeah he did something bad under the curse 500 years ago but he is such a great guy.

Nice reaction! Glad to see someone actually be mature about the sex scene and go on to give thoughts about the episode and the plot lines rather than just spazz out for half an hour lol. The kitten thing was a call back to when Rudy and Eris first met, remember her grandfather and father were really into beast women so her mother taught her the whole "let me have your kittens" thing as a way of seducing people who are into cat girls and such.

He's actually a well developed character. Eris left because she cares for him. She couldn't save him from Orsted and he nearly died.

I felt initially that since she left with Gihslaine and she said she and Rudy are not well matched (right after the God fight) and her cutting her hair off - a trope in many anime. That she's gone off to train and get stronger as her and Rudy are not on the same level. And sleeping with him was her gift of goodbye. The kitten line Eris did was from way back when Rudy first met their whole family. Also just noticed how close this is to ending. I assume we'll have to wait a while for it to continue. Ugh. :(

The person who wanted Eris as a concubine was Pilemon Notos Greyrat. Sauros, Eris's grandfather, said in the first season that Pilemon was the one in charge of the entire Notos branch of the Greyrat family, as well as being the Rudeus branch. Rudeus is Notos and Eris is Boreas, Pilemon is Rudeus's uncle. Also, Eris's impressions of Rudeus's conduct after the confrontation with Orsted were lacking. To begin with, it is said that Eris begins to become quite attached to Rudeus after that and also realizes that Rudeus, despite almost dying, was already thinking about a future confrontation against Orsted and preparing himself by trying to learn Ran Ma (Disturb Magic) while she thinks that he is "2 years younger" than her and "still a child". From our perspective, we know that Rudeus is still quite scared by what happened.

I'm an animee only so I don't know what the specific reason Eris left but I'm confident that considering her infatuation with Rudy, there's no way she left without a good reason. Whether to train herself, to find herself, whatever, I'm sure she left with good intentions in mind. Although while she's not exactly a forward thinker (the way she left that note for Rudy), perhaps she didn't realize that her leaving that note like that was considered a weird or bad thing.

Ruijerd was the last of the Superd who took up Laplace's cursed spear, so he was perpetuating the curse, which was tied to his green hair. By shaving his hair, he broke the curse, but it's such a powerful thing that it has taken time to wear off.

The issue with episodic releases. Spoiler: The LN and even the Manga showed her perspective. The problem here is Eris...has an overconfidence in Rudeus. She believes that even though she is bad with words that he will understand what she means...which is not the case and Rudeus changes due to this. Though if she told him in person he would have persuaded her to stay together, so at least she understood that.

I really like this episode tbh. Its pretty damn sad, but its so well made. Btw the way it is translated the "I want to have your kittens, meow" part basically means "impregnate me". She was basically playing a beast person. As you might remember from the 1st Cour of the season, Eris' family is VERY fond of beast people. Iirc though thats not actually what she said in the novel. I think she said something along the lines of "Let me be your kitten". Again sort of a beast person roalplay. I'm not going to give my opinion on those 2 lines. I doubt anyone would care :D Edit: Just read that she actually DID say "I want to have your kittens, meow" (or along those lines) in the Light Novel. Its just that the english translation changed it.

What are the odds that they meet up many years later, and Eris has a kid in tow? I know of at least two others stories I've read where the MC has a one-night stand, the girl disappears before morning, and the MC only finds out years later that he's a dad.

@@shadowplayer8738 I've forgotten the name of one of them, but the other is a book series called Sovereign of the Three Realms. It's an okay book series. It has a very repetitive nature, in which the main character comes somewhere, gets looked down on by all the established powers in the area, figures out a trick or treasure or something too quickly beat them at their own game, stomps all over them and become as their King. Repeat this about eight times and you basically have to plot of this series.

@@dsanchack332 ah….. if it’s like that I’ve already a some series with the same “plot”. Just they make their own different power system and their own different twists with different origin stories that’s makes the MC personality different in some way but the rest is basically what you said.

The most mature reaction on that episode that I've seen so far, like you said that it's weird, but didn't started shitting on whole show because of that as half of reactors. More than that you started actually discuss about what's about to happen next episode and whole next season. Good shit mate, good shit. Wasn't really subscriber or often-watcher, but I respect that. + Sub, Next episode is the last episode of the season and what light novel readers calls (kinda) real start of Mushoku Tensei story.

Eris family name is boreas greyrat and they like beast people alot. Her mother married to the family and isn't truly a boreas greyrat and knowing that her husband is facinated by beastpeople she probably did the kitten line and taught Eris too.

8:38 that was a callback to the first episodes when they told Rudeus their family worshiped the beast people

I see Joe is of the same mind when he saw this and was like "THIS IS WHEN TWITTER GONNA BE LIKE BUT HES 50" lol. Joe is conflicted about the Eris Rudy situation that goes down in the tent. I commend Rudy for his growth though. part 1 Rudy would have been like YEA LETS GO RIGHT NOW! while part 2 Rudy has grown a ton and even turned her down initially. The "I want to have your kittens, meow" line was the Boreas way of saying "I want to have your babies". Remember they love beast folk so its a seducing line from them i suppose lol. ONE MORE EPISODE FOR THE SEASON! its too soon... I need more of this anime asap lol. Though I guess I can just read whats out of the LN again if I need more content.

Rujuird's departure was his way of saying his mission is complete. He got them back home. And he considers them adults now. Eris's departure was because she cared about Rudeus. She couldn't protect him against Orsted and he nearly died. Which is why she decided to leave. Rudeus has shown a lot of maturity over this season. Yeah, he was a little perve, still is, but he evolved from that to teaching an inconsiderate girl who hated his guts, to protecting her and promising to get her home, to trying to be a leader and care for Ruijuird's feelings and worrying that Eris's actions would be him taking advantage of her. Back in the day, he would have jumped at that oppertunity. This showed how much he cared about Eris. Through all this, if you've read the LN, he learns a harsh life lesson. That the people you care about won't always be there. Sadly, it was harsher for him because he truly loved Eris and thought they would be together forever. Next season will show more of Rudeus's maturity has he learns the harsh realities of the real world.

What Jaeric is trying to say is this is mostly a spoiler comment that should be started with spoiler then slap like 8 spaces in there so anime onlys can choose if they want to read it or not. This is something the anime will make plain eventually, just not this episode. Its ok for anime only viewers to not understand and theorize until the show explains it.

Ruijerd leaving (essentially disbanding the party that rudeus have for like 5 years), eris leaving after tempting rudeus to be her family then immediately also leaves. If i were in his shoe, i will be depressed as fck. But sometimes its necessary to teach us how to move on. in journey (read: your life), if there is a beginning, there is the end

In this episode, we witness Rudy crying intensely for the first time. He is truly alone now and misinterprets Eris's departure, which is due to her lack of communication skills (a point that becomes clear in the following episode)

We'll be getting that in the next episode probably, but if you guys want explanations of Eris' point of view here are some: . . . . . . Eris always thought she was inferior and weak alongside Rudeus, after being beaten by Orsted and seeing Rudeus killed, Eris realizes she is weak and thinks she doesn't deserve to be with Rudeus. That being the reason for the journey with Ghyslaine, only to become stronger and finally deserve it. Too bad the words she left behind weren't enough to convey that message, that was something Ghyslaine herself tried to warn, but Eris was sure Rudeus would understand, which he didn't.

Can you react to Kaitou Joker episode 1?

Since the anime is near to it's completion , I got a feeling that they'll probably finish this series as in animate the whole novel in the next few years. Mannn manga is releasing one chapter a month so the anime is few chapters away from the manga so I guess I'll give the LN a try.

Pilemon Notos Greyrat is the uncle of Rudy , Paul brother , who is the current head of the Notos Greyrat house , he is much worse the Paul , they did mentioned it but didn't show him , he wanted to make eris his concubine

Some people drop it in ep 8 actually didn't watch the actual part of the story that was coming , fell bad for them , this is same as that eps , story after this also great ,and mostly I have read manga and part of light novel as well , those who are actually Anime only will gone miss this past Rudy

The manga, afaik, pretty quickly explained Eris's reasonings, so I don't consider it much of a spoiler, plus plenty of people have hit the nail on this one. Plus it makes sense given how she's been portrayed in the last 2 episodes. This is also just to mostly assuage heart-wrenching assumptions a lot of viewers have ad and I wanna ease some hearts here. She left with Ghislaine to get stronger since Rudy showed his true power, which was well above her, not to become a concubine. Since she values strength and wants to protect him rather than the other way around, she feels like she can't accomplish her goals and holds Rudy back as long as she's there. But she didn't want to "leave" him, so she had the night to "claim" him. Problem is Ghislaine sucks at writing letters and Eris isn't much better so their combined letter left A LOT to be desired as explanation. Instead, Rudy's only other companion left him and now he, too, is truly alone - like Eris said she was. His dream was that nothing mattered in the end and that he was truly just the same person and, ultimately, everyone would leave him because of it. Now his nightmare has come true and he blames himself. And you have to remember that this man JUST DIED. Like, not CLOSE. He ACTUALLY DIED. He felt the pain, and what's worse is his eye showed his death multiple times before it even happened. And it wasn't fast. It was slow and painful and fraught with helplessness as even his best efforts couldn't save him. That. Is. A. Traumatic. Experience. I think other reactors are forgetting this just happened and are forgetting how terrified he was of losing anything more when faced with death, uselessness, his past, and ultimately being abandoned. Damn that's cold....my man spent years and everything to get her back... got Killed...revived...has deep trauma on top of everything else....finds his destroyed house....Ruijard leaves....tries hard to resist temptation even though he getting felt up....and then that happens in the end.....wtf....

I started reading the manga some time ago before this second part of the season, and i really don't understand why here, only in the anime, at this point in time both Rudeus and Eris look exactly the same for the whole series. It's like they don't aged at all, while in the manga at this point you can clearly see that they look much older. If the studio managed somehow to make Rudeus and Eris older, like in the manga, i'm sure (even if they are 14-15 years old) that a lot of people would have no complaints about the sex scene, because in someone's head that watched only the anime something like this would be fine since they became "adults" compared to the firsts episodes. But this is apparently not the case (i wonder if it was too difficult to do....), and now a lot, and i mean....a LOT of people will complain because of this.

Wow people drop off this episode? Guess there is a segment of anime watchers that are stuck on Battle Shonen and not interested in dramatic sagas. Everyone is entitled to their taste, but surprising someone would make it this far then announce they are dropping lol.

I mean, if he has hated Rudy this much but kept at it, one would think he is a mosaicist and would not stop here. Its whatever. He is entitled to feel how he does, funny it took this long for him to do what he has probably wanted to do since episode 6 or 8.

Not sure if you missed it, but the butler said that Pilemon Notos Greyrat wants Eris to be his concubine. If I'm not mistaken, that's Paul's brother whom they said in episode 4 to be scummier than Paul. And it seems like the only way for the Boreas branch to survive is for Eris to take up that offer. I don't read the light novel so I'm not sure, but it seems like Eris is going to that lord and just wants to have her first time with Rudy. Also, if this will help anyone, a lot of other anime characters made love while their underage, like Kenshin when he was 15 and the girl was 18. I guess in this case they're kinda like Eris and Rudy since Eris is 15 which is 18 in their world.

Think about Eris as a character. Does going to a stranger to become a concubine sound like a choice she would make. Eris who was impossible to teach for anyone aside from Ghislaine and Rudy. Eris who always dreamed of being an adventurer. Eris who this episode had a conversation with Ruijerd about becoming a better warrior than him one day. It would be a tragic turn if she went off to become a concubine, but this episode had enough tragedy, and it would be completely out of character for Eris to suddenly choose to become a kept woman.

E.D.anime seems to be the only reactor so far that's planning to drop it that much better then i expected

The seggs scene looked like a fanservice but it actually functioned as a plot device and a problem for the next arc.

Poor Rudy. He's already got abandonment issues, and losing both Rudjerd and Eris in short order must have been unbearable for him. I'm glad they cut out the Ghislaine arc from the teleportation disaster, that was my least favorite arc in the LNs, and that's saying something. It would also have totally killed the pacing of this season, so I'm happy that they focused this season on Rudy and Eris' return home. Maybe they could cover it in an OVA, but I'm content with just finding out ex post facto bits and pieces of Ghislaine's experience.

Eris feels that she is holding Rudy back, u know the typical trope u have seen in some super hero stories

Ruijerd was with them for like 4 years

Eris preferred to give herself to Rudy than some old random noble she didn’t know or cared for.

Really hate how most people react to this episode... maybe it's just the way i experienced anime, but i really enjoyed this episode... stop bringing your real-world brain into your fictional story experience and watch it from the characters perspective... it was a beautiful and touching scene which makes everything that much more impactful at the end... the devestation Rudy must be feeling after seemingly establishing his first ever romantic relationship and all the hope he must have had for the future before it was torn away from him... damn... this episode hit hard...

I assume from Eris' note, that Rudy and her aren't "well matched," just means she's going to train w/ Ghislaine to become stronger, and on par w/ Rudy. Ruijerd said Eris was a full fledged warrior now, that she can surpass him, and she reunited w/ Ghislane, a sword king, Eris loves Rudy. She said the embarassing "I want to have your kittens, meow" line, b/c of the Boreas family's admiration of Beast people's customs. They'll probably reunite later, and revisit the Beast Continent, but this damaged Rudy emotionally. I've seen comments saying that this is the first time Rudy has cried in this life, and it makes sense. Ruijerd fullfilled his promise to escort them home, and left. Ghislaine and Eris left to train. Rudy is abandoned. He had his virginity taken for the first time in two lifetimes, and now he's alone. I hope he meets Roxy's crew, and they go to search for his Mom Zenith, or Sylphiette. Also, looking forward to learn of the other 7 great powers, the reason for the Dragon God Orsted hating the Man-God Hitogami, and how he became cursed. Since the season is ending next episode, I'll read the light novel to continue the story. What a great isekai anime.

I cheated, and read the wiki . . . SPOILER You're right: Eris went with Ghislane to train in the various sword styles, because she views Rudy as being superior (he's already an Emperor-Class Water Mage and Saint-Class in everything but Barriers); she hasn't achieved any formal rank in her sword style. By saying 'We're not well-matched', she was implying that she was inferior, but because of the wording, Rudy thinks that she's saying they weren't well-matched as people/lovers.

If you worked out just a bit, you could easily cosplay as Gordon Freeman. Would be bad ass

In that moment I hate eris and if rugrd here about this he beet the crap out of eris

So what is his next move find Sylphy so he can have a shot with her? Look for his Mom or/and Sister who are still missing or Option C? ("Spoiler Below regarding what Rudy does next") Nope decides not to look for any of them instead goes to random places for years trying and failing to get it up literally tries to hook up with anyone and fails. Basically over next 2 or 3 years does nothing of note. Only concern he has is he can't have sex anymore.

Can we praise the director here for being brave enough to keep them looking realistically young despite knowing that a bed scene is going to happen? Another series would make them look close enough to adult to make those scenes palpable. At least I know the manga adaptation of this series made them both look older than they were. Idk, it's risky moves like that that I have to applaud the director for because people in real life do start doing the deed at that age and looking the way they look here. And it wasn't handled as pedo service either, but with a lot of thought put into the presentation. Just needed to mention it because I don't think it gets enough attention.

Shes 15 tho so it wouldnt be inaccurate if they showed her looking both taller and older. There are a LOT of anime showing teens, just like in Mushoku Tensei. Shes old enough to be 6 feet tall and still be believable.

I caught up on the manga but not the light novel, and I just wanna say in regards to what happens in this episode and how it leads into future events and actions... [ S P O I L E R A H E A D ] . . . . . . . I hate what happens with Rudy. Like don't get me wrong, I love Sylphie and I want her to be happy to, but this path is not going to go well for Rudy, Sylphie or Eris in the long run. I really wish that girl who thinks herself Eris' rival did show up and bring up how Rudeus is Eris' boyfriend according to Eris at some point before he... you know. Like, I like the childhood friends trope to an extent, but almost every time it happens I feel like the person the main character has know for long has better chemistry and more of a bond with him than the childhood friend who only knew him for like a year or two before they developed into their own person. At this point I really wanna read the light novel just so I can finish the story, but I don't know where I can find it and I'm not to big on reading books through screens, I'm a little more willing with manga. Either way I eagerly await season 3 even if only my own suffering await in it.

Im dont understand why you so surprised? In the Middle Ages, 15 years for marriage is quite a common age dictated by the realities and circumstances of that time (low level of medical care, low life threshold of 40-45 years, high mortality, including among infants, because of which women had to give birth early and a lot). And people living in those days mentally matured much faster .Yes, it is not clear for modern norms, but Eris and Rudy do not live in the modern world, and it is unacceptable to climb to them with your norms. Turning Point 3???!!! You maynot want that to happen

This scene has a bit more context in the manga. I recommend reading that few pages.

As of Volume 19 (where I'm up to in the LNs), I'd say episode 21 will be the most climatic moment until Turning Point 4 which won't happen for quite a while. To set some expectations, unfortunately, after getting a taste of what happened in ep 21, the series will wind down pretty significantly and delve into SoL without much adventuring which I suspect will disappoint some of the fanbase (it disappointed me at least).

as of me there is a turning point 3 which i think is the second best turning point after 4

I’m pretty sure you’ve seen "The Assassin Reincarnated in Another World" (An old man gets reincarnated and fell in love with a little girl) And you don’t feel uncomfortable after watching it. Why? I won’t say that you are double standard, but because Mushoku Tensei brings you a very real feeling, which brings you into a different world. And your values haven’t been adjusted yet. ps:Maybe my grammar is wrong because my native language is not English, please don’t attack

This episode was a big moment for both Rudy and Eris. For Eris, because of how mature she was being about learning her parents died. And for Rudy, because, for once, he actually hesitated to do something lewd to/with Eris. He still went through with it, but she clearly wasn’t taking No for an answer. And as for Eris leaving with nothing but a note, well…unless you want a spoiler, don’t read past this point. *SPOILER* She is bad a communication(especially writing) so she didn’t get her meaning across. She was feeling inadequate, like she isn’t good enough for Rudy, because she was so easily tossed aside by Orsted, while Rudy actually managed to damage Orsted’s hand. On top of that, from her perspective, it looked like Rudy wasn’t really bothered by their defeat because he was already preparing for their next encounter with Orsted by trying to learn Orsted’s Disturb Magic spell. So she left Rudy with Ghislaine to train so she can be good enough for him. Rudy won’t see her again for quite a while, and this, as you saw in the episode, hit him hard. But later(in the next volume of the LNs) we learn it hit him harder than we thought. He gets ED from Eris leaving him, and that means for a while, he won’t be as perverted.

Eris sure really don’t know how to express herself aside from using her fists… The next part would be the next chapter of Rudeus’s life…he needs to figure things out for his life and grow and theres another important person to Rudeus he hadn’t yet meet…

the i want to have your kittens is a mistranslation in the subs in the novel eris says i want to be your kitten all night long and that was eris's way to say goodbye cuz she's gonna be gone for many years so thats her keeping her promise to rudeus then breaking his heart right after 💔😭

From what I've heard, it's the actual translation, the novel is actually mistranslated, though I'm not 100% on that

Why are people so confused about the kittens line? we have literally seen cat-beast people in this anime. If a woman tells a man "i want to have your children", there is very little room for interpretation. In the heat of the moment, an invitation to have reproductive intercourse from a willing attractive partner with the implied consequence of establishing a family together, I don't think you can come up with a more powerful invitation. Eris is very clearly pressuring him, and pulling no punches about it. Is it moral? that is up to the audience. Rudeus is by no means a moral paragon, and neither is the world black and white in morality. He's been doing questionable things all his "new life", as well as trying to act virtuous to compensate. This is really not the worst thing he has done, and he is written like that on purpose. Shut-ins don't become paragons of modern virtue just because they start living life normaly.
