Goodbye to the BMW R1250GS Adventure

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

So, we reach the end of an era. After 3 GSs in 4 years (a 1200GS, a 1250GS and a 1250GS Adventure), I have decided to take a break from the genre. Maybe for ever, maybe for a while, but however short or long, all 3 have been phenomenal bikes and I cannot rate or recommend them highly enough.
Keep 'em peeled for what's coming next though as I hope to have many more miles and adventures on my new bike
Stay safe
Below are various links to kit I use or items referenced in this video.
These are amazon.co.uk (United Kingdom) links and clicking through and purchasing does earn me a small commission and costs you nothing extra.
I'd be really grateful if you are buying any of these if you used the links and help support the channel.
Thank you
Nick

    Thanks' for all of the GS & GSA fitment tutorials, they were well thought out and executed. Just can't imagine what you will replace the mighty GS's with, I'm on my third GSA amazing machines they are sublime, but alas being 65 years old and still fit I will continue to ride them, but there may come a time when I look for something a little lighter. Hope your new steed is a good fit for you. Thank you...

    Good to see you back, Nick. I admit to being a little worried for a few months! Had my R1250GSA for 10 months but traded it back in for a F750GS. My legs were just too small, (29") even on a factory lowered bike. The F750 will be just the right height for me. Bought a beautiful RE Meteor 350 for local riding while the 750 is being built and it's become one of my favourite bikes. Great to have you back!

    Hi Nick good to see you back, I too have said goodbye to my GS 1250 after 3 years, she was my 5th GS. I have ordered a RT hopefully it'll be with me in September. I loved all my GS's but fancied a change plus my wife was struggling to get on the pillion especially with luggage. I made the mistake of taking the new RT for a test ride and my wife loved it and I couldn't believe how well it handled. Looking forward to seeing your next choice.

  • @nickhodgeUK

    @nickhodgeUK

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hi Phil. That’s a little of my reasoning too. It is really tall and it’s ok with just me (my feet are planted) but with any ‘delicate additional weight’ 😬 it’s a bit more of a haul. My mate just swapped to a 2021 RT from a standard GS and he loves it and he’s a quick rider. I thought it was a good bike when I tested it and said then, if the GS wasn’t so ‘fashionable’, BMW would sell far more RTs 👍🏻

  • @ragetobe
    @ragetobe Жыл бұрын

    I chose a 1250rt after test riding both coming from a Triumph Tiger, the biggest reason for me was protection from the win and rain. I love the RT though and my son prefers riding pillion on it.

  • @nickhodgeUK

    @nickhodgeUK

    Жыл бұрын

    I really rate the RT. It’s very competent and has benefits over the K16 for sure. I like the 16 engine which is butter smooth but also about 20% heavier on fuel. I certainly would never dismiss the RT. May even have one at some point 👍🏻

    Glad you’re ok Nick, I’ve left the GS clan ( had 3 in a row) and moved to a Multistrada V2S, love it so far but early days. Loved the GSs but wanted something lower and lighter as I get older, the Multi is so much more fun to ride and a lot less common. If I had another I’d have the standard, love the comfort of the GSA but too tall and heavy for me with short, fat increasingly older legs.

Far superior to GS and GSA in slow speeds, highway speeds (wind protection) and in luxury (10" TFT, power widescreen, power locks, wireless charging, active cruise (mine does not have), comes with bags already, crazy amount of visibility especially with the aux lights and the high beams on, and the loudest horn on any bike. Hi, I've been a subscriber with you since you had the 1200gs , I too had the 1200 and recently upgraded to 1250 triple black. Never been a fan of the pcp deals but is appealing more and more to me. I keep my bikes immaculate also and wondered if you have had any charges or issues when handing the bike back? Stevie.

    Hi Stevie. I buy all my bikes (and lose my shirt each time of course). I stick with the one dealer as you know and have always been able to arrive at a deal we both seem happy with and they know they’ll get a bike that hardly needs even a clean. In fact my bike mates think I’m mad when the bike is going back that I clean it but hey. Whoever gets my old bikes will know it’s been looked after 🤣

    Hi Nick another great video, I have the BMW R1250 GSA, just done two tours in Spain and even thou fitted with weighted handle bar bobbing's I still suffered vibrations from the handle bar and foot pegs resulting my hands and feet going numb, did you experience any of this on your GSA? Due to this I am teetering myself of a change, looking forward to your next video on the K1600 GT SE.👍

    I got that with all bikes. On tour I find the many 30mph (50kph) an opportunity to switch on the cruise control and rest my throttle hand. Not sure I’ve had numb feet but I do tend to ride ‘on my toes’. Watch this space 👍🏻
