Goodbye, Team Let's ask Shogo

Ойын-сауық

Dear Kazu and Tomoko,
I don’t know if you’d be reading this, but I wanted to tell you something important. No matter what I’ve said or done to you two, which might not have always been pleasant or may have hurt you, I did it because I seriously wanted you to be happier. Of course, it might not have been something that you’ve asked for, but I still want you to understand. I still am always wishing for your happiness, and I still care and love you two so much.
I hope someday we will be able to work together somehow and look back at what happened now as good memories when we were young. Please take good care of yourselves, and goodbye for now.

    There are tons of Japan-themed KZreadrs. But problem is that the content leans to sensationalize Japan and Japanese culture. No channel has explored complicated Japan-related topics with both an empathetic and a critical viewpoint. The topics are so well spoken and structured. I hope the former team understands that what they have built here is absolutely tremendous and their work will continue to educate millions all over the world.

    Makes sense, for Kazu and Tomoko - it was a hobby and a side gig for fun. For Shogo it's a serious business that provides food and shelter for his family. For the brand to grow into a thriving business, there needs to be a clear cooperate hierarchy, goals and full time work commitment. It's hard to do that with close friends who can't work there 100%.

  • @euomu

    @euomu

    Жыл бұрын

    It was Kazu and Tomoko's livelihood as well, so you're not making any sense. A "corporate hierarchy" is not at all necessary. There are and pretty much always have been many succesful collaborations.

  • @TheCCBoi

    @TheCCBoi

    @@euomu Kazu and Tomoko have careers outside of KZread. It's unfair in both directions: You can't expect them to commit 100% to a side-gig/hobby. Additionally, It's unfair to Shogo - he needs people who are able to fully commit to his company. Often the most mature, honest and best decisions are the hardest. Long-term, this is the best for everyone involved.

    @@euomu Additionally, any successful KZread channel have editors, managers, etc. It's no different than running any other business and you need a clear hierarchy and professional business practices. @@TheCCBoi I agree with most of what you're saying, but there's a difference between having set positions for trained, determined individuals and a hierarchy. Studies actually show that the more strict the hierarchy, the more it's not conducive to a healthy work environment.

  • @TheCCBoi

    @TheCCBoi

    Жыл бұрын

    @@theekatspajamas any business or organization has a hierarchy. You can’t get anything done unless someone is there organizing, keeping things on track, prioritizing and making sure people hit deadlines. That requires clear leadership and a chain of command where everyone know what they need to do and where they need to be. (Project management is nearly impossible without someone in charge). Additionally, there needs to be authority in the leadership - so people follow thru with what they’re hired/tasked to do. It’s just reality, and it’s very hard to do with friends (I know from personal experience).

They are both still young and have a lot ahead of them, along with their own pressures and ambitions they have to deal with and aspire for. You can hope the best for your friend and do everything you can to help them support their dream, but if it isn't your dream then there will be and has to be a point when you need to work on your own as well. If you don't, it could just lead to negative feelings that will hurt yourself and your friendships later. I hope the very best for them both and hope they can find happiness and pursue their dreams

I have come to care about your family and I enjoy seeing your passion for traditional culture, finding solutions to modern problems, and generally enjoying life. I've never gone into business with my friends, but I have worked on family businesses. It's different than when you hire employees because, to put it bluntly: it's personal. You sometimes will ask friends and family to go above and beyond and because they care about you, they'll want to try. But after a while, resentment can sometimes form, and that hurts the relationship. I hope it didn't get that far in this situation, but it is a very common occurrence from my own experience. Add to that the volatility of KZread and the stress of wanting to maintain financial and work-related promises to people you care about - I'm sure the situation was fraught, to say the least. I really do hope this decision makes everyone happier and helps your friendship!!

    We've always enjoyed your content since Day 1 Shogo. And its only gotten better over time, as you added more people to your team. But things change, more often in ways we don't want to. And even so, we need to adapt and change despite them. As such, while I speak for myself and many that we are sad about this development, we understand and support you for it 110%. Nevertheless, don't look at the negatives and look at the positives. I know you're support is strong and I believe things will progress for the better for all of you in the future. I believe you will all come together, under different circumstances but still more favorable than not, when things are better. Until then, all the best for everyone!

    I first found your channel during the summer when I was looking on KZread for the gaming channels that I watched and found your video about the differences between the tachi and katana. I've stuck around ever since, and I'm glad I did. The amount of information I've picked up from your videos and the smiles I get sometimes when you add that special touch of humor or are just filming your enjoyment in making the video just shows great your personality is. You and everyone else's. I want to think it's fate that brought me here. We're all saddened by Tomoko and Kazu's departures from the team. To say they will be missed is an insult. We miss them already! This is however a massive step on all fronts. This is a chance for growth for everyone, and we'll be there for the ride. Lastly: CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR THIRD BUNDLE OF JOY!! 👏🥳

    I'm not really sure why this is a big deal. People move on to new opportunities and away from present endeavors all the time as they determine what best fits with their goals and ideal lifestyle. Working with family and friends can be very difficult, so it is commendable that they've moved on in such an understanding way. Even so, it's clear they were all on the same page and decided this was a mutually beneficial move. So, why are people worried about the channel or, even more strangely, their personal friendship?

    I am happy for Tomoko and Kazu, but very sad for Let's Ask Shogo as a whole. Kazu added a lightheartedness, ease, and a "live in the moment" energy that balanced Shogo's more intense, serious, and always future minded personality. Tomoko added maturity,, patience, and wisdom that seemed to anchor the channel. This channel has been a relaxing, educational, and sometimes entertaining place. Now it feels very scattered, unstable, and desperate.

    I'm excited to hear your Japanese language training. I am currently learning myself, very slowly, and am planning a trip to Japan in approximately 3 years from this past summer. Three years will give me time to learn Japanese well, and time to plan a full trip across the entirety of Japan. While you transition into your dream, I will be working toward mine with my family as well. On that note, if you read this comment, I am curious how upset we will make the locals with three very young children, who are still learning how to follow directions and not be defiant in public? We try to teach them well, but some children are slower to learn than others, and we have been blessed with the privilege of teaching a few who are slower to learn than average.
