It's been a long time since his retirement, but I'm still very sad. it was night time when I saw the rumors about he was retired and everyone was asleep. Suddenly, I started crying because Scott was the creator of the game that saved my childhood.

Scott is not just a random creator, he is a legend and will always stay in our hearts. I will never forget for all he has done for me and community. I swear I was on the verge of tears when watching this. I remember first getting into Fnaf in like early 2015, watching Mark playing Fnaf 1 on that dad’s xbox, and being scared so i hid my face beneath a pillow. Also Playing Fnaf and Fnaf RP games on Roblox like TPRR and Animatronic world, and watching other Fnaf MVs, SFMs and Minecraft Fnaf. I can’t believe how time just files like that, i can just remember playing with my friends back in 2nd-3rd grade where one of us would pretend to be an animatronic and chase the others. I wish i could go back to those times, where you didn’t have to worry about anything, just being a kid, liking Fnaf and being scared of it at the same time. Never forget my Big Fnaf Phase/Childhood, can’t wait to tell my kids and grandkids about this amazing franchise in the future. And most importantly, thank you Scott. Hurts knowing the man who formed my amazing childhood is retired now. I would do ANYTHING to speak to him in person and tell him how legendary he is. #thankyouscott #istandbyscott

Golden Freddy was there, too, in the darkness to the right of Pirate's Cove... he was hard to see save for those white pinpricks in his eyes, but still... I have been a fan since early 2015 and i never knew he would retire so quickly. He deserved every support that he recieved. I still remember back when fnaf 3 was released and everybody called springtrap golden bonnie lol. I still remember when people thought fnaf was real. I still remember the balloon boy vs golden freddy animation. Fnaf makes up 80% of my childhood. The other 20% were other game like minecraft or csgo. Scott Cawthon created a safe place for thousands, millions, even. He created games that immersed players and viewers alike, and games that will stay on the list of the best games for years. He created a world that peaked everyone’s interest, all ages, all genders, all races, ethnicities, sexualities. He created our heaven in the weirdest way possible, with a couple of haunted animatronics. Despite whatever Scott does outside of the FNAF community, he has created something that can never be replicated. He deserves the time to himself and his family. Thank you.

I can safely say FNAF has such a welcoming and nice community when you get to know people. And just remember. People really are struggling. From the years of before and now... And all it takes to save a life is for one person to be there for someone. And I feel as if that's what they mean by a safe place. Thanks for everything scott you made my childhood and I'm thankful for that

I remember one day at school. I had such a bad day. I came back with such a sadden mood. What cheered me up? People playing FNAF. Talking about it with my friends. Playing them despite being horror games. I had never in my life ever liked horror games. But fnaf? That game changed my life forever. Everyone who talked about it became some of my close friends. We talked about how the games would look like in the future and even came up with our own designs of the animatronics. We talked hours and hours without end. I also enjoyed seeing matpat’s theories and always wanted more. This journey was not one I was prepared for, nor did I ever think about joining it. But Scott Cawthon changed my life with his last attempt in game making. And now seeing him gone… is sad. But each man deserves a break, and an end story. But… may Scott be knowed for one of the most kind, dedicated, amazing and honorable people on this earth. #ThankYouScott

Scott was a childhood hero to me. If not, the guy who you'd want to be with. He gave us a gift, and we accepted it gratefully. It breaks my heart knowing he left the FNAF universe behind. #ThankYouScott

But… it’s not over. And no I don’t mean it in a way of “it’s always here in our hearts”, Scott literally said on his site that he would choose someone else to tell the stories. Yes, Scott has retired, but then again, FNaC exists, if he can find someone who can tell the story like he did, and hide stuff like he hid, I’m pretty sure FNaF has a few years of life ahead

A few haunted robots and millions of souls found happiness. I don't know how to put my respect for this man in words, but I promise I'll love the game until the day I pass. I may have gone through many fandoms, but this will forever be my first and most loved one, the one i'll stay loyal to forever. When I was around 9 (2015) a friend explained the game to me and the way the animatronic's looked, nothing else. He said you had to 'shake the animatronics off' and I took that literally, I thought they jumped on you and you had to shake them off and move on. I remember that night imagining myself playing that game with a console, I was wearing checkered socks and a black hoodie, and I remember imagining a red fox jumping on the screen and me not being scared. The hallway floor was checkered, I remember that too. And at that time I've never seen the game nor the graphics, but somehow I got the details right. That really scares me to this day. When I got into the fandom (2017) foxy was my favorite character for a long time. Now, because my birthday is around the corner, I wished for long checkered socks and a black hoodie with freddy on the back just to 'be' in that imagination I had as a kid.

My friend also told me about this game in 2015 when I was 7. He told me only about rabbit that jumps on your face so I imagined this game as a shooter.

If you grew up with this game, the people you hung out with at the time where kinda crappy, but you had a good childhood nonetheless. Fnaf, ddlc, batim, baldy’s basics. You name it. But most of them have died out. It’s like a fire. It once burned bright, but now, it’s almost dead. Just a couple more flames on the last remaining tinders… so with that, I say goodbye. Goodbye ddlc. Goodbye fnaf. Goodbye batim. Goodbye baldy. Goodbye the meatly games. Goodbye Scott. Goodbye Dan. Goodbye, inde games.
