I'd agree that they are strong as feck, but still highly libel to suffer detail failures like the horn solenoid. I actually think the bunged up fuel line should have been avoidable considering the harsh environment military vehicles operate in, and the poor quality fuel they might be forced to use in theatre. You'd expect triple redundancy in the fuel supply filter systems.

I'm glad you cleared up the issue about CCT "building" your truck, and making it be known that you have no hard feelings towards him. I'm going to be flying to Houston to pick up a 1997 F350 diesel from my best friend, who has already rebuilt the trans, installed a new clutch, replaced the turbo, swapped to an electric lift pump setup, blah blah blah. And I'm driving it home just south of Chicago. And it'll probably have some kind of issues, because it's an old, high mileage, diesel truck. That's just what happens. (On a side note, I wish the bunker was open to the public and I could swing by to meet you guys!)

As a motor T mech that fixes 7 tons everyday. I can tell ya right now that the horn is going to be the least of ur worries on that truck. 😂
Matt is once again showing how to be reasonable, honest and objective. Matt Carricker for President! (Is it too late?) Mythbusting time - military (land) equipment is generally built on the assumption that there will be fleets of mechanics and support services on hand at all times. The cost of 100% failsafe equpment is much more than double "regular" reliability. So the main objective is to keep all the wheels from coming off between fuel stops - anything else is a bonus.
I love how Matt’s not afraid to take anything apart. Tearing the barn apart to fit the truck is hilarious 😂

Any sensible person should understand that a mechanical vehicle, or machinery of any kind, that is thirty years old will have small mechanical issues until driven on a regular basis and sorting out the glitches of age as they come up. That was a pretty thorough test of it's reliability to cover those miles, I was impressed. The owner of the business the truck came from looks a decent and upstanding guy with a good business set up, at least from what i can glean from the videos.

And any sensible person should understand that a mechanical vehicle, which is put through a supposed complete overhaul and tune up, won't have the issues you mentioned- especially when talking the cost of such a purchase. Yeah it's normal when you buy a truck they sell you a piece of junk that hasn't been maintained right and the engine hasn't been looked at before sale.....

@@Dutch_fellow I sense sarcasm in your comment , but what you said actually IS pretty much normal, yes
Yeah - but..."Its still stupid" my new favorite quote from Mere
The cars and trucks get bigger. House gets bigger. Business gets bigger. I think this is the year of the Matt. 👌
Think of it this way, Matt could tell people his humvee was able to reach its top speed in only 25 seconds
We'll forever miss the big ol' humvee
I used my stopwatch. From "Go" to "60", 25.71s
Right no Matt we need more people like you in this world. You are my role model
I see your Texas A&M sign in the barn ... WHOOP, Gig’m

Ahhhhhh, I see what you did there. Trickster.
You need to get Erik from Texas Barndominiums to come fix the end of the barn now 😉
