Robert Dreyer Yeah, barbershop quartets, once they become international champions, are in the AIC (Association of International Champions), and they cannot compete again. That's why you only see any group become champions once. That being said, Vocal Spectrum may have won it in 2006 and there may have been many new champions since, but they are still at the top of their game and are honestly still one of the best quartets, if not the best, in the world.

Regarding the "obnoxious" tenor, I guess people forget that good barbershop is also good theater. It's common for various tunes to feature various members and what better one than this to feature arguably the most talented of the group. Naturally the character, if you will, revels in this because he get's his time to shine now and what better tune than this one is there to be caught feeling the "good vibes". He feels them so good in fact, that it literally takes the lead to pull him back to earth in the 2nd chorus. While I have seen no other of their performances of this number, I suspect in a more formal affair you will see this dichotomy between the good vibes tenor and subsequent disdain from the band play itself out even more overtly.

I completely agree, except, unless, I'm reading your comment wrong, I should tell you that it's all planned. They do the same exact things during the official performance including the realing him in part. It's all part of the performance

Annoying tenor. I mean, heck of a range, just badly utilized. This comes from a tenor who knows how delicate those pitch high notes can be for the crowd and music in general.

It’s a performance, it’s meant to happen. He is not taking the steam out of the rest of the group, it’s how the act is written...

How come there's always a hate comment at the bottom of the comments section of barbershop videos?
