    Nada, I went shopping today and you were in my head saying " good print/bad print" as I touched printed items. ! Very helpful.

    Hi, Nada! I’ve been watching and enjoying you for quite some time. You always have a lot of detail and information in your videos. 👍 I agree with most of your print suggestions. Love a good stripe! I own way too many striped tops and sweaters. 🥴 I also like leopard, geometric, abstracts, florals, plaids, & paisleys, but, like you said, some are better than others. Never been a polka dot person. Regarding your wrap dress comment… I still love and wear my knee length wrap dresses. I know they’re not a “current” dress style, but they really flatter my hourglass shape. I own several in prints and solids and will continue to wear them. I have tried other dress styles and lengths, including various midi and maxi dresses, and they just don’t suit me. I’m in my 60s and confident in my personal style choices. Have a Great Weekend! Looking forward to more of your videos.

    I just started getting circulars from Johnny Was which I had never heard of. Beautiful prints snd styles, but pricey.

  • @NadaManley

    @NadaManley

    Yes, they are definitely pricey. One of the reasons is that they do design all of their own prints and they have very high-quality. They also don’t go out of style in any significant way so people tend to collect them.

    Tricky..I like florals, polka dots, stripes, animal print and plaid. Not so much geometric, paisley and abstract. I have dresses like the polka dot wrap dress and still love them. Hate the shirts with ties hanging down. Love dark florals.

    If you love them, style them in a modern way, so keep the modern look going with modern outfits. For example, a top with a dated pattern, but a modern shape is what I call a borderline item. If you pair with a modern pair of pants, and a great jacket and cute shoes, it can look fresh and much more modern. In other words, you can take those in either direction. :)

    I am 70 and must avoid matronly! Used to be an Etro girl and now have to be careful - but my one and only long dress is by Etro, with an all over print. My one midi dress is by Missoni. I have a few leopard print pieces, and will wear the velvet wide leg trousers to the cinema this evening. They were from Dries van Noten 10 years ago, and are now bang on trend 😃. NB they design for amazons... I am 5'4", and with the cutoffs made collar and cuffs for a simple denim jacket

    I love paisley, but that one is awful! The dress is paisley done right. I think that good prints are generally found on great fabrics: linen, silk, cotton, and wool. Horrible prints are found on cheap fabrics: especially polyester!

    So many brands that used to be great are now trash. I trust my own eye, it doesn’t lead me wrong. I can walk through an entire department at a department store and find nothing. I do love some Ralph Lauren prints. There was a beautiful floral linen shirt last summer but I didn’t see it in petite and I drowned in the misses. I used to have a RL midi skirt with the jumping horses and a cardigan with suede front panels, I lived that and still would. I live some Tommy Bahama prints and pieces. Talbots sometimes has pretty prints. J Jill is frustratingly frumpy. I just mention brands that have petite sizes. That’s what I shop. And they sell out so quickly! I am SO excited that I just scored a black Veronica Beard schoolboy dickey blazer! The 6 is perfect for me. It’s cropped which is full length on me, and sleeves almost full length. I’ve already purchased three dickeys, a denim camo, a hoodie camo and a black cashmere. I still want a blue denim and a grey hoodie. And a leather if I can have one made. All preloved.

    Laughed at your J Jill comment. They are frumpy all over; not just the prints! It seems like some brands try to pose as high end (and maybe they are expensive) but they are cut for a sack of potatoes!

    Nada, you are a hot Latin (looking) woman! You would look great in a toe sack. Or a burlap bag! Me…not so much! I have been watching your podcasts for maybe three months. I have binged watched over three years worth of your content, as a result , this has happened to me. I critique the outfits of almost everyone I see. ( most are doing it wrong) and my closet pieces has devolved into just a few things I will even try to wear, to go out. I must still use some of my things because I have nothing else. Two white button down shirts, two modern black blazers, two pairs of jeans and a pair of black slacks, one black and one ivory straight skirts and an ivory satin blouse. I desperately need to go shopping! I am 74 years old, am a size 10 or 12 petite (5’2”-- 150 to 160 pounds, low contrast, blonde/gray aging hair that is as long as yours. My shape has started to change from hourglass to top heavy (good full bust, ). Nice legs, still, from years of working as a RN. My problems are , I must find clothing to fit my bust, so a woven top in my size is often to tight in the bust, I have to size up from medium to large, everything is either to long or to tight in the bust. I have a lay an around , stay at home lifestyle with a few weeks vacation or a cruise every year. I am a sucker for a print and for embellishments. Capris were my mainstay, but not anymore, , I want to upgrade to some silk, some linen , everyday cotton blends, good underwear. I feel I am a classic, old money style. I live in a small town in Alabama. Belks for fifty milesis the highest end store we have, so I need to take advantage of internet ordering. I NEED TO KNOW IF A STORE I ORDER FROM IS TRUE TO SIZE. COULD YOU MAYBE TELL US YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH DIFFERENT STORES, SIZE WISE. Thank you so much for the content you put out. I have really learned a lot , in a short time from you. Now, I just have to go shopping! BTW, last week I pulled together a pod of clothes from my closet. Black pants, blue jeans, white shirt, tank top, beige satin blouse, and black blazer, I now need to do another one featuring navy and either pink, or lime green and a spring/summer dress. It is surprisingly easy, once you know the rules.

    i dont like paisley at all, but I liked the paisley top (Still wouldnt wear it but if forced...) better than the dress , which 1- would look like a tent on me (and im a small person so I cant imagine it on somebody with a few extra-or more- pounds on them) and 2 would make me look like im 80. maybe its the colors on it that make me go 'blech'- theyre just not colors i like at all. but im not really a print person at all and though I do have some- I am SUPER picky about them. Most of your 'good' prints (and this falls into 'things you like or dont' i suppose) but most of them I didnt like at all, so perhaps they were simply bad examples for ME. I do 'do' polka dots and stripes though. But, like I said, I am SUPER picky about prints and keep them simple, and they take up a small portion in my closet for the most part. My best friend loves prints and her wardrobe constantly horrifies me but it makes her happy and thats all that matters LOL

    The paisley dress was beautiful, but my eyes kept going to the heavy, black, cowboy boots. Nude, strappy sandals would seem good to me. Am I wrong? I just think shoes shouldn’t steal the show.

  • @NadaManley

    @NadaManley

    You are not wrong and that is definitely the more elegant choice. The only thing I would say to that is that the trend the last few years has been to do some thing opposite and unexpected and I think that’s what they were doing with the shoes here. You should watch my video on the two types of personal style. I think it will help explain some of the styling choices for these pieces. Great comment though and you are totally right that a nude shoe would be a more flattering option.

    Stripes are boring and very very old. LIkewise with leopard print. Totally lacking in imagination. I wear prints that look like abstract paintings.

  • @NadaManley

    @NadaManley

    Abstract prints are lovely, but there is room for more than one type of modern print and room for more than one type of personal style. Much of what makes a print work is the execution and how the woman puts the outfit together.
