I've listened to this several times, but I think this is the first time where I've truly appreciated how much Aziraphale is trying to get Crowley to come over without outright asking him to. He's "shouldn't you be out and about making people miserable," and when Crowley says they're miserable enough, Aziraphale specifically points out, "I'm not," as if to say "come and make me 'miserable'." And then Aziraphale turns down Crowley's offer to come over by stating that "it would be against all the rules," which he knows is like catnip to a demon. Plus, he mentions the burglary. Out loud, sure, he says he handled it, but the subtext is, "We need to fight together, which means we need to BE together." Sometimes, I just can't get over how good the writing for series is. Three and a half minutes and you can perfectly understand the situation AND the characters' personalities.

@@laurahibble5947 I was kind of joking and so was the book / film. A big part of the story is that neither angels nor demons are particularly good in the long. Crowley in particular says that he didn't fall, he just "wandered vaguely downwards". A defining trait of Crowley and Aziraphel are how much they love humanity and his they've embraced it. Whatever the case Crowley does seem broadly quite good at doing "demonic evil". His redesign of the M25 actually resulted in it going on fire. His explanation of his acts do make a lot of sense. You might supposedly value losing your mobile network, but many people depend on it and will become very angry if it goes down. Millions of people in London being slightly to extremely angry, is sure to make thousands of people less virtuous. In contrast, a demon tempting one priest with a prostitute is relatively small scale.

Bro the fact that Michael and David can make it to where you can hear how much Crowley and Azi miss each-other just from from their voices makes this even better..and that “goodnight angel” 🥺

Came back to relisten after s2 and BOY does this hit differently. Aziraphale sounded so disappointed to turn Crowley down even though he’s the one doing it himself. They’ve always been like this: they know exactly what they want from each other, but Aziraphale’s never felt like he could act on it. It’s always on Crowley, the one with more relative freedom, to begin the temptation, and on Aziraphale to deny himself.

Based on what is established about their nature within the universe (no sex/gender, appart from them choosing to be male- or female-presenting; no such thing as reproduction), it appears that both angels and demons are generally ace and panromantic. Furthermore, based on their treatment of each other and their zero fucks given about gender, norm or sides, I choose to believe they _are_ in a romantic relationship, that just doesn't exactly *work* the way humans would imagine it to. In their form of existence establishing such a thing as "boyfriends" was just completely irrelevant, they just love each other, whether in the way 99.9% of the fanbase obviously perceives it or any other.

In Lockdown 6 and nearly at the end of Aug 2021, Crowley is def my mood. I’ve learnt patchwork in lockdowns 1&2 Earned virtual challenge medals during lockdowns 2-4 Panicked through lockdown 4 because will my 5 night staycation happen? (It did…just) Worried through lockdown 5 - started a week after I got back from my vacay and gave me bills - tax bills, holiday bills, and suddenly no work=no pay Lockdown 6? I’m in a mire of chest-deep quicksand. Hope is mostly gone and what little remains is dying fast. There’s nothing to do, nowhere to go, every single thing takes hours if it gets done at all. Apathy, tiredness, doomscrolling, insomnia, sleep - rinse and repeat. What day is it? Who knows? Who cares? What does it matter anyway?

Realising how stupid he was, Azi flies to his demon and stops Crowley from killing himself with holy water. He does the dance, Crowley forgives and they organise a little party in the bookshop during which, they finally dance a gavotte.

I always loved how Crowley is a utilitarian demon, prefering the things that make the most people collectively miserable are as opposed to making one person really really miserable. that or i always loved his laziness

There is also a mention in the book that the humans are so good at finding ways to destroy each other and spread suffering that he just gave up and now is just receiving the awards, sometimes for events he wasnt even aware of.

Well, I mean-Those Daemons/Demons..You know you to either have to (in order to cause most mischief and chaos in the world) invite or demand them to be released onto the world/to come to your domain (again,that's also old-school vampiric rules/ritual as well,honestly)..Also,I may put this out as a bit of a stretch here,but..I guess the LAST time (other than back in the garden of Eden,of course) Crowley went a bit..let's say,a bit TOO loose on the coaxing of venerable innocent souls back in the day-With _his buddy/accomplice Aziraphale_ around?! Really..?- I guess the result wasn't too pretty,I presume.. And to think- _other than the fact that Azira and Anthony J. Crowley ARE technically immortal beings_ (more-or-so the less,agents of God and Lucifer,nonetheless!) and therefore,can't really get sick and all by this thing that's going on,but..- God,Lucifer and the other workers/agents in their respective domains (_*Probably*_) have got a LOT of fricking work to do, _if you catch my drift,so to speak.._

Transcendentally bored. There's nothing to do here! I've decided that if I can't think of anything to do within the next 2 days, I'm gonna have a nap, and I'll set the alarm clock for June. It's gotta be all over by June, innit? A: Um, look, if this isn't a silly question...oughtn't you to be out and about? Doing things? C: Out and about? While we're all meant to be staying home? A: Well yes, but you're a demon, you've got a job to do. Obviously you aren't actually going to get ill or even spread a disease, but you could set a bad example. Get ominously close to people, tell everyone there's a party going on or something. C: I--I COULD do that, I mean I COULD, but if I did then...weeeelll, people might follow my bad example and get ill, or even die. And I know I ought to be making people's lives even worse, but everyone's so miserable cooped up right now anyway and I just, well, don't have the heart for it. A: I'm not miserable. C: Really? I suppose you're off nipping around London doing miracles for people from a socially approved distance. A: Oh no, I can't do that. We're all meant to stay at home. I put up the closed sign on the window, and I've been catching up on my reading. Do you know, I've never had so few customers, not in 200 years! I've now baked bundt cake, sponge cake, angel's food cake, four different kinds of sourdough loaf, schwarzwälder kirschtorte - although I had to miracle in the cherries - and then once I've baked them I have to eat them all myself. Which is why I was so delighted-- C: To send your burglars home laden with baked goods, yes, I follow. You know, I could hunker down at your place. Slither over and watch you eat cake. This is now canon. Crowley doesn’t want people to die to the corona and Azidaphale punishes burglars with cakes.

Hahahahahahaha take his plants. Hahahaha. That's the best part. I can almost see Aziraphel perplex at all those plants, and Crowley just: "We've decided to quarantine here. Maybe reading to my plants will make them more beautiful, and without LEAFSPOTS, DID YOU ALL HERE? I haven't tried that. Give me your best books".

That does sound like exactly the type of thing Crowley would do- of course Aziraphale would initially be upset with him, but i like to imagine that Crowley eventually conviced him to let him stay because it'd be double the bad going home again. HKFHJDKSL I LOVE THEM SM

Oh my goodness I forgot how tooth-rottingly adorable this was, and how it's basically one huge feelings-fest for our favorite snek boi. Crowley pays close attention to every little prattling thing Aziraphale says, refuses to put people in danger because he doesn't have the heart for it, refrains from laughing himself silly over Aziraphale's method of crime deterrence, and then practically begs to slither over to the bookshop, even offering a crate of alcohol as incentive, all to no avail, then dejectedly schedules a very long nap, before finally signing off by wishing his angel a good night. Like, come ON, all the new material they're giving us is absolutely bursting with rainbows; there's literally no heterosexual explanation for Crowley ASKING TO (YET AGAIN) WATCH AZIRAPHALE EAT. Unless someone's gonna tell me "Noooooo, that's TOTALLY bro behavior, sitting statue-still and gazing at your good buddy's mouth as he slips homemade delicacies past his lips and dreamily closes his eyes and makes a wide variety of happy noises, yeeeeeep just two dudes chilling in a bookshop, less than 3 feet apart because... they're...... JUST BROS."
