Why does he use the light All Guard punish instead of the heavy? Does that have something to do with hit stun / damage reduction when ganking?

I was thinking that too every time he played. Might be to avoid the hyper armor proc and what you said about damage reduction.

It's probably bc when he is getting ganked and he does it, doing the light punish hits all around him. If he tried doing the heavy while getting ganked someone could easily hit him out of it ruining his punish but if he does the light punish he still gets some damage for sure while being able to protect himself from surrounding enemies. If he does it in a one on one scenario I'm not too sure.

It’s faster than both the zone or heavy and much harder to interrupt due to the speed and a good hitbox, its better in a teamfight but in one on ones or ganking the heavy is better for sure. I think he does it in situations that it’s not required in due to muscle memory
