In this Good Hood Story we travel to Helenvale, Gqeberha to meet the champions behind the Safety and Peace through Urban Upgrading project (SPUU) and find out more about their inclusive approach to community partnering. The Mandela Bay Development Agency (MBDA) has been working in Helenvale for almost a decade, focusing on the psycho-social aspects of development and finding ways to build trust with the community.
The Good Hood Stories started in 2020 when the South African Cities Network called for inspiring projects from across South Africa. Four stories were selected because of their innovative approach to partnerships.
