Good grief! The story of Charles Schulz, the creator of Peanuts

“Peanuts” creator Charles Schulz died on Feb. 12, 2000, just weeks after announcing his comic strip was ending after almost 50 years as he struggled with colon cancer.
Schulz’ last strip appeared the day after his death in an eerie coincidence. Watch as WABC-TV looks back at his remarkable career, including an interview with Art Spiegelman, who calls him the most popular artist of all time.

It's hard to believe that's it's been twenty years ago when Schultz passed away. I'm glad that they are still rerunning his strips so that even future generations will enjoy them.

I just hope that Apple and their Apple TV streaming service, won’t take away the occasional animated specials that appear on TV (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas). Not to fret though, since they struck a deal with PBS to air the Thanksgiving episode (not sure about “A Charlie Brown Christmas”).

It's been like 19 years ago since his passing. I always loved his earlier years comic strips and books back in the days! He even encourage me to draw, I go early morning to get the Sunday papers to read and to draw Snoopy and Charlie Linus, Lucy, Peppermint Patty. Shultz's children the peanuts gang will always ever be part of the next generations to come. Though I got to admit still I haven't got the chance to see the CGI animation of the peanuts yet.

Dang, I watched this exact broadcast when it aired; I was 9 at the time. He was my first favorite cartoonist, which was then followed by Bill Watterson. It’s so amazing that people can watch clips like these 20 years later. RIP, Mr. Schultz.

I cried on that day. Peanuts brought me so much joy reading both as a kid and a teenager when weekends became horribly boring. My grandma tried telling me, "Well sweetie, you gotta understand that Charles Schulz was an old man! 77 is up there on the age ladder!" But I didn't care. I was just thinking that a life was a life, regardless of age. Hard to believe to this day that Charles died and there's no more Snoopy and Charlie Brown adventures in the Sunday newspapers. 😞

So true, As I was growing up the thought of aging never crossed my mind. Until I reached age 30 years old. Once I reached 30 I felt my heart sink deeper into my stomach. Then I realized, aging can be a good thing. With age comes experience and wisdom. Age is just a number as far as being able to accomplish our goals. We can obtain our goals at any age. The older we get the wiser the choices we make on how to reach those goals. I'm not sure how old you are, but I must say you have awesome advice from your Grandma. She is a wise YOUNG lady..

Charles Schulz will forever live on in our hearts. His style of cartooning was simple, yet he got his message across. Yet at the same time he was detailed in his work. My hobby for the past over 30 years has been to draw cartoons. My Aunt encouraged me to take the place of Charles Schulz comic strip. In my opinion no one can take Charles Schulz place. Rest easy Mr. Schulz, knowing you touched so many people with your ability in cartooning.

I met Mr. Shultz when I was about 8 years old, back in the 70's. He was good friends with the family (Arena's) across the street where I grew up. I was hanging out with my friend and his father introduced us to Mr. Shultz. The funny thing was, he gave us a quick lesson on the steps to draw Popeye and Bluto, not Charlie Brown and Snoopy. Well we were kids, we had no clue he was the famous Charlie Brown artist. Rest his soul and bless him for all the amazing years of entertaining us.

So glad he ended it then. Otherwise the woke movement in 2022 would’ve destroyed it.
