Mike, I had similar, perfectly separated noise spikes like your 80/40m and found it was my portable power ONLY while it was plugged in, perhaps a trickle charger. I put up a video a few weeks ago. I'd look to see what items you may have plugged in that is trickle charging or maintaining some power source/battery, etc. Great video!

Dude I have so many different varying levels of RFI at my house it's ridiculous. It's def not anything inside my house as I haven't changed anything. That's just what I get to live with.

It has been a while since I have looked at inverters. A small sized, pure sine (at least as advertised), 300 watt unit at a decent price level, and no RFI to top it off! That's rather impressive, well to me at least.

I'm working on setting up a small solar panel outside my SUV to charge my Lifepo4 go box. After installing my FTM-500, my next task is to add an HF Rig. Instead of running power through the firewall, I decided to connect it directly from the Lifepo4 battery box. This setup has been excellent so far, with no ignition noise or other issues. I'm avoiding charging the Lifepo4 battery from the vehicle's outlets to prevent putting too much strain on the alternator. By comparing the usage time with the parked time in the Florida sun, I anticipate having plenty of power consistently available. Maybe you can do this with your new wheels and I can just sit back and copy your brilliance. lol PS. Will just put the small panel (30-watt Amazon Chinese special) on the dash for now since all other windows are tinted.

I find I don't generally need to charge my battery for HF when I'm doing POTA. A few times on some all day roves I've just set up a 100 watt panel while operating and that helped augment the power I was using. I have the Paradan 3 amp LiFePO4 charger too that has come in handy as well. paradanradio.com/products/mobile-lithium-battery-charger

if I wanted to use this at home as a power backup for my 100 watt HF and 2 meter radio, how big of a battery would i need to run a couple of hours?

i think most car wiring for 12v power is only rated for 10 amps. Wouldn't drawing 300 watts overheat the wiring inside the car?

Can u run a inverter off being plugged in a outlet in the house instead of a battery? I have a ac unit in my shed that won't come on cause not enough power from extension cord from 20amp plug

They were all hooked up to the same battery when I was camping for the eclipse.

As you are a solar newbie I'll answer this. In this demonstration you don't need to hear the signal to know if you're getting RFI. The waterfall on the radio would show a very distinct vertical line of hash indicating RFI. Something you might want to look into if you're getting into solar too. Charge controllers can be especially noisy. So much so that it will knock out your neighbor down the streets ability to operate radio. Ask Ham Radio For Non Techies if you don't believe me.
