This type of friendship is common in Korea and Japan and a few other east Asian countries. Skinship is a normal part of the culture. I know being like this as you call it a 5yr old type friendship is very rare in the west as after a certain age in childhood people seem to think every interaction with physical intimacy must be romantic or sexual. Which likely gives a taboo on why people don't become close to each other. Whereas in Korea this bullshit doesn't exist,so people are allowed regardless of age to express their closeness to each other how ever they like. So it's common to see people like these two hold hands, hug cuddle etc and are just friends or family without their relationship needing to be romantic or sexual

Another adorable Tid bit about their friendship that I recently found out is that Gong Yoo is 2 years older than Lee Dong Wook, but industry experience wise LDW is GY’s senior by 2 years. As he started modeling etc at 19 I think. But the adorable thing is that LDW jokingly calls himself the senior and GY always plays along too (because it’s ridiculously cute). It’s even funnier because LDW is & acts like a mischievous younger brother with GY and I have heard he has called GY big brother. Yet adorably calls himself the senior. I mean talk about precious. No wonder they are close friends even now after soo many years and have one of the best bromances in the history of K-Dramas.

Love these actors they are totally funny

Yes it’s really like they were meant to meet in this life and be in each other’s lives. Seeing them together, laughing or just talking makes me feel good and warm, like a comfy blanket.

Honestly, when I heard of the news back in 2016 that they’ll appear together in a drama, it was like a dream come true. It’s a no brainer to not watch it. I may seem overreacting but swear, lee dong wook and gong yoo are my first loves in kdrama. Lee dong wook bc of My Girl and Gong yoo bc of Coffee prince. These two dramas i always come back to whenever I needed a good trip down memory lane 🥺 so thankful to the casting directors they chose them to be the characters in Goblin bc they were very perfect for the role. No wonder Goblin became super successful
