Fair but honestly whichever way you start a show (subbed/dubbed) will always make the other sound weird. Personally i prefer dubs just because if the actors are good you get one last filtering so the translation doesn't feel like something out of google translate. I good example is in Jujutsu Kaisen where a line in sub is "I love my self when I'm all dressed up and pretty amd i love myself when I'm strong!" But in the dub its "... I love myself when I'M KICKING ASS!" I'll let you decide which resonated way better with the visuals of the speaker dominating as she yelled that. I also understand that a lot of dubs are too low budget to afford decent acting and will happily watch subs when needed. (But i personally don't hear the same depth of emotion in foreign languages i know a whole 2 words in as my native language) PS: this is not intended to start a war over sub/dub, both have a place but i like the extra filter of translation and being able to look away without missing dialogue.

@@jasonreed7522 I don't dislike HxH dub but it misses the spot sometimes imo. But it's probably original VA's being so fantastic that kinda overshadows the dub a little bit. Either way, as someone trying to learn english and japanese i am very grateful for all these people's work.

@AlHasan Sameh to be fair they might be enhancers because they are simple minded rather than just chance that all of the enhancers are brutes. Hisoka’s personality test is far from accurate but there are some very clear consistencies between characters of the same nen type. Also as much as I love netero, didn’t he get to where he is by just spending days punching the air until he had basically perfected punching, his fighting style isn’t too far removed from as simple as uvogin’s is. He just summons a big bhodvista to punch for him.

@AlHasan Sameh When I said simple minded, I meant his fighting style not his intelligence. Netero has shown to be a fairly cunning strategist (the forethought to get the rose bomb installed) and knows how to push people’s buttons (most of the hunter exam arc lol). Just that his fighting style is basically still just hit fast and hard. His nen ability would be incredibly weak on the average person as the nen required to summon the “statue” (I can never spell it right) is immense and the conditions would make it useless for most (can’t move without having to resummon, have to pray between punches etc). So netero is obviously a very skilled and fighter and nen user, but still just the same principle of punch hard and fast.

Man now that I realized it knuckle the biggest actor in hxh universe man screamed before he was even touched 🤣🤣

Dont let this distract you from the fact that bungee gum has properties of both rubber and gum

Without researching it i would assume its from the same period/same actors. I know the announcer in the tower arc (when they first learn nen) sounds identical to the anouncer in tournaments in early pokemon (up to gen 3 i think), so it does hit a nostalgia of that late 90s early 00s for me. (Modern pokemon i couldn't watch if i wanted to, admittedly it is 100% a kids show)

Knuckle really be like:"I'll throw down with a 12 year old I dont give a fuuuuuck"

Imagine if he turned into adult gon at that moment lol.

Knuckle is pretty much Josuke with Okuyasu's personality... ...which pretty much sums up Kuwabara from YYH in a nutshell😂

Feel like it's odd that we're not seeing any brown spots in that all white outfit after that.

I think it’s weird that even with the dubbed version, he still says “Jan-Ken-paper”. In Japan, Jankenpon is said right before you throw down your choice of rock, paper, scissors. But In English, we just say “Rock-Paper-Scissors” in substitution for Jankenpon and then we throw down the choice. So in the dub, he should’ve just said, “Rock-Paper-Paper” since he uses the last word of “pon” in replacement of whatever he throws down. But mostly throughout the series, he would just say “Rock-Paper-Rock” since he uses rock 90% of the time. Just saiyan.

The dubbers have a very complicated job with matching mouth movements, length of sentences, tone with facial expressions on top of strict dealines. This might simply have been the only way to get lip movements, etc to match up. Because it's something Gon says more than once, they had to have something they can reuse. That would be my guess

@@litatjie I get the companies who have to translate and dub words, the same words used in Japanese aren’t going to have the same mouth movements. But when he says “Jan-Ken-Paper” he uses the same mouth movement for “Jan” / “Rock”, and we don’t even see him use the word paper. Which is probably why they said Paper instead of the Japanese word for paper since it’s English dub. And I suppose one could argue that “Ken” is a one word syllable, while paper/scissors are two word syllables, but I mean dubbing companies have overlapped words before and since it’s such a signature move, it’s just weird they are combining the two versions of “Jan-Ken-Pon” / “Rock-Paper-Scissors”. That would be the equivalent of them dubbing “Kage bunshin no Jutsu” / “Shadow clone jutsu” and saying “Shadow bunshin jutsu”.

@@themultiverseman I think you answered your own objection here. It's an iconic move. It repeats over and over in the anime. And I do think that, combined with the syllable difference, is probably why they did it the way they did. But you seem to have made up your mind so let's agree to disagree.

Because poor translation issues. Its why certain anime work better in japanese vs english. Saying the japanese name of an attack in english comes off as silly, and a lot of animes get ruined by poor VA of those pronunciations.

i waited and believed in Gon's potential that almost every character he meets gets goosebumps coz of his future potential. In the end the hype was fake. shitty ending. i dont want to get into whether he still has potential or not but the anime ending was deplorable.

Spoiler Warning!!: I had to sit with it for a bit. My first watch through I enjoyed but I kept coming back to the Chimera Ant arc and the depth that every moment had, especially the entire castle seige. HxH subverts all the normal anime tropes. Meruem isn't just a 2 dimensional bad guy, he learns and grows beyond his animal nature, and even so Netero doesn't allow himself to question if he should be destroyed or not. It makes you ask, who is really the good guy here? Are there any good guys? Is Gon and Ging's reunion as sweet and emotional as Naruto and Minato's? Absolutely not. Is there some grand reason why Ging left his son? As far as we know, no, he just wanted to live his life and he's kind of a really shitty dad and not worth the wonder that Gon has cultivated his whole life. What is family? What does it mean to come home? Can you still go home even if you've changed, whether intentional or not? HxH is just so much deeper than the basic adventure story it looks to be on the surface.

And in the later manga chapters, he's not even the MC anymore lol. I wasted my time binging the whole anime series waiting for the "POTENTIAL BOY" to do miracles only to be left disappointed and also wasted time on the manga still waiting for the stupid "POTENTIAL" that's never gonna happen since it's not even about him anymore and the manga is on hiatus indefinitely lol. Drop this stupid anime now.
