I bought my Gon Bops in 1972 when I was in the Navy. They have been with me everywhere. 5 ships, 2 shore duty stations, and a lot bands, and they still sound great. and no cracks🤩

Definitely a lot more labor than carving a premium West African djembe shell.I guess it balances out when you ring and rope tune the djembe vs hole drilling, hardware and conga head installation.

Thank you for watching! It takes approximately 4-6 months from start to finish, to complete a drum. The drying process of the wood, once the staves are steamed and bent, takes time for them to take and maintain their final shape.
