A ton of LOTR games, good and bad, were released while he was alive. I doubt he personally signed off on all of them. Especially something like Shadow of Mordor that basically just disregards most of the lore. The game is great but just makes up a ton of stuff

@@abhrntcrtre Shadow of War is actually worse. I twitched every time "Elven magic" was mentioned in the video but nothing in this game story wise was nearly as dumb as the entirety of Shadow of War. Shadow of Mordor was still very egregious but in comparison to War, it's the fucking History of Middle-earth. anyways, the best LOTR game is the 00s turn based RPG where you control a group who is always one step behind the Fellowship and at the end you fight the literal Eye of Sauron.

the raid shadow legends transition actually made me laugh. I like to imagine that youtubers don't actually get any money for these sponsorships but are instead inflicted by some kind of curse that just happens to revolve around reallly liking raid shadow legends.

not at all surprised. But by attaching themselves to a huge name like Lord of the Rings they got way more attention than ever before. And the product they got attention for is bad. As a German I grew up with Daedalic in high school, played all their games and got the collector's editions. And now they are known internationally as "the guys who charged 60-80 bucks for the Gollum game." @@OFFICIALLYBENPEARCE

Honestly, it really does look like a lot of care and craft and effort went into this game. Yeah, many of the design decisions were questionable, and maybe even the very premise was flawed, and the execution left something to be desired, but there was clearly a lot of talent on display in this game, especially for such a small team (15 people or less). It's a real shame that all that hard work lead to a product that is so reviled that it got them all fired.

Yeah they strayed from their strengths and spread themselves thin. If they'd cut the game down to like 1/3 the original length with minimal gameplay sections and more an interactive storybook with tightened up writing it probably would've been well received.

As an artist in the game industry I am really sorry for the team working on this game. I am sure they did their best and were hated on, then lost their jobs. I hope they find new places for themselves soon and get back up after this game's sad demise.

if you are thinking of playing this game for the haha funny meme game clout, let me be the one to urge you, ABSOLUTELY DO NOT DO IT. I have mild hallucinations, and this game made them infinitely worse for the few days I was playing it. I was hearing his voice in my ear as I made decisions, his cough, and his god-awful breathing behind me. for DAYS. I called it the "Gollum Mind Prison." He lived in my brain rent free until i finished the game.

Just a heads up, it’s all intents and purposes, not all intensive purposes :)

Fun fact: This game had a FOUR YEAR DEV TIME and was delayed once so they could keep working on it.

Everything about this whole situation is just so sad. I've been following Daedelic for quite some time now, since the release of Deponia 2 and was already suspicous of the studio taking on the challenge of such a big game.. The earlier works can be described in word word though, charming! Deponia and Edna & Harvey have such a beautiful design and amazing humor, especially in the german version. Absolutely recommend every one of them. The memories I have made with Deponia are so great, including the frustration of having to look up solutions to some of the puzzles. It's devestating seeing the studio end like this

Daedalic was THE german game gamedevs back then Their point & clicks were pure masterpieces and they put so much love into them (they were developed by a guy named Poki) After Poki left Deadalic, everything kinda started to go downhill (besides some of games they published from other developers) Their newer games weren't received that well and everyone was just asking for a new P&C game They said P&C games are too expensive to make and that's why they won't do it, also because Poki left, which is sad... I always dreamed back then, that one day they will get famous around the world (seriously, please play their P&C games), but them getting famous for creating the worse game in history wasn't what I wanted It's so sad seeing how they were on the top and now fell down because of ignorance and money... It's also sad that they just gave up and will stick on being a publisher only and stop developing games themselves
