I played golf in Scotland in July, one of the issues I saw over there was when the courses were dry, and 4 of the courses were very dry, plastic tees broke on almost every tee and some actually bent going into the tee box, so I switched to wood tees. In the states I only use plastic tees as they hardly ever break.

Everyone needs to get on the Epoch golf tee. I only need 1 for 18 holes. Scientifically proven to be better than all other plastic tees. And they have those bands for consistent tee height. I’m never going back 👌🏽

I previously used the Martini Tees but last season switched to using the Tornado Tee after seeing a review on it. Nothing to do with distance claims or accuracy, it is all down to it not leaving any marks (scratches) on the bottom of the driver head. New driver from last season still looks pristine. Great test, informative as always.

Excellent test and presentation. I have used the 4 More Yards for years and it helps me tremendously for the reason you mentioned. Consistent Tee height. I am one of those people that would tee up the ball on a wooden peg, recognize the height was a little off, then hit it anyway. I knew I should adjust it but hate slow play and didn't want to be that guy. From a durability standpoint, a four pack (about $5) easily last me 100 rounds. I only use them for the Driver though. Everything else is a regular tee.

I've used the Zoomtee, made by Zoomtec in NZ, it claims aerodynamic efficiency, which I doubt, but what's kept them in my bag for the last 7 years is the fact that they're pretty much unbreakable, they stay in the ground so I don't spend time hunting for them after my shot, and their preset height (like the castle tees) is about spot-on for me (42mm from the ground). I play off 18, so I don't always (well, pretty much never) pick the ball cleanly off the tee.

I ranger at a local course. One of my duties is to pickup all those broken and left behind plastic tees because the course super thinks they can damage mower blades over time. Plus they don't degrade like wood does. It's amazing what I pick up considering how "durable" they are supposed to be. Personally, I tried some bamboo tees last year and gave away half a bag of them, I would bet that only one or two out of a hundred lasted more than one use and it got to be a drag having to dig out a new tee for every drive. Good old wood can't be beat IMHO. Plus, they are environmentally friendly

The martini shape is good for seniors because the ball doesn’t fall off and have to re-teed

I don't care if they claim to give me 5 more yards, or cost me 5 yards. It's irrelevant to me. My ball has never fallen of a Martini tee, are super quick to tee up, and two tees last me the entire damn season (one long step tee, one short tee for 3 wood off the tee box). Exactly the perks talked about in the video.

Must say I am surprised by the results. Interesting numbers.

I think when showing the results you need to post the variance as well, otherwise we don't know the spread of values and if one tee performed consistently above another. I'm guessing the standard deviations are all higher than the difference between the means in every category for all these tees

The Martini tees are supposed to be leaning forward by 20%. you should retest based on their instructions about how to use them to be fair

There used to be a company called TefTee which had a Teflon coat on it and would never break I still ha e some from years ago. I don't know why they aren't around anymore (maybe because Teflon causes cancer and people put tees in their mouth regularly) those were the best though.

So is it the shape of the tee, or materials used. The free tees at my course are the exact shape as the free wooden tees, yet they are made of plastic. Any difference there? Plus, if launch angle and spin rates are the same, why is one longer than another?

Simple wooden tees with lines, gotta keep it simple. If different tees were that big of a deal than pros would talk about it more.

I love the study, but I can’t help but think that the changes in spin, distance and launch are all just noise in the data. You should consider getting a stats guy to calculate a “p number” sometimes to help understand how reliable the differences are. I 100 % believe you can say there is “no advantage” based on this test, but I don’t know about the other conclusions.

I would like to see the specifics of the study. Like swing speed/ball speed, attack angle, spin rate, launch angle of the testers. How many testers where there? Was it a robot? Wonder if this would change the results. Was there any statistical analysis to see if the results were significant? Did the testers get tired ? Was there any thing to control for human error ? These questions might have good answers but would be nice to know them. Not quite buying the results until specifics are given.

I love the Martini. Nothing to do with distance. These things are hard to break. A 5-pack of tees last me the entire season golfing four or five times per week.

Do plastic tees cause more or less damage to a driver, if any at all? That's the reason I prefer wood.
