My name is Erich and I live in Italy welcome to my channel. I used to play golf on and off for many years, but I started my journey again about 8 years ago, changing my swing completely.
My goal is to become a single figure handicap golfer in the near future.
To achieve this goal, I built my own backyard putting green and set up a backyard golf net. I love playing in my backyard green, doing drills, club reviews and playing at the range and at the course to get better at the game and ultimately reach my goal (hopefully).

Golf burnout is definately real. I refer to it as being "golfed out". Such a mentally challenging game as well as physical, breaks are necessary. Oddly some of my best rounds have been right after a large break.

It also happened to me, I went on vacation for a week ( no golf) and when I came back I shot 3 of my best rounds ever!!! I think sometimes the brain needs a break to process everything that is learnt 🤷🏻‍♂️

I just took 3 weeks off Erich because of work and life. Best thing that could've happened to my golf game. It was becoming a chore and not fun anymore. I started topping the ball, lost all control of my drives. Went to a charity outing and got that feeling back of "this is why I play this game". I agree it happens to everyone. Thanks for sharing 👍

Very strange, it’s true for everyone to play better after a break. I also think your body needs to rest from doing the same repetitive movements, I’m glad you got it back 👍

100% mate, you will remember we spoke after i had a real low and took a big break of about 6 weeks, i came back strong from that and I just had 2 weeks off for a holiday and again I’ve come back refreshed and keen!

Almost every one had similar experiences, must have something to do with your brain needing time to ingrain all movements or something 🤷🏻‍♂️

@@thebackyardgolfer7010 what I noticed on this little holiday I just had is that I barely thought about golf (aside from watching the Ryder cup 😢) I must have been at burnout without knowing it!

@@ForetoFourGolf My theory is that when you do too much of something, too much ingraining a certain move, you just need a break and come back to it, it's funny, just like drills, when you quit because you think it's not working, then all the sudden you hit better shots, it's just part of the process, I think.

Golf burnout happens to me... But then I start watching even more golf related content and get the itch to get back to it. My "breaks" only last couple days 😂. I have a problem lol

I know it sucks, you either cycle it (tough) or take a break, my breaks are also just a day or too 😂 learn from your mistakes and keep going

Yeps it's real unless one is able to only keep your average as a goal each time. I just came back from holiday and had my first round an had a great round. Refreshed and eager but with low expectations and it was great. My experience is still pretty low and thus for golf it is now still easy to just have 2 to 3 rounds which a re bad and then bounce back. But in all sports it is normal to have periods where things are not well and that can be for 2 months. Setting sensible low expectations is the way to my opinion. 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻

Many have said to play really well after taking a break, including myself, thanks for your feedback, indeed low expectations might be the way to play better, I’ll keep that in mind, good one 👍

The struggle is real! I think I get burned out about twice a year. Seems like everytime I improve on a certain part of my game, another part of it gets worse.

The burn out is definalty a thing. Even more when you film all the time. I find sometimes it helps break the cycle if you play some where new, play with a different group, or just take a week or 2 off. Sometimes a little top golf or mini golf will help as well. Theres guys out there playing the same course 3 times a week with the same guys and shooting the same scores week after week. I couldn't do it. I have to keep the game fresh or I lose intrest.

Played well for two months, and then last week played the worst game I have played in months. I could not hit anything. I havent touched my clubs since and I am scared to get back into it.

Don't worry it's just a phase, try to understand what you are doing wrong, but for me it's normally just a lost of confidence, as soon as you regain your confidence you'll get right back up.
